You think nobody notices your Mach 1, what do you think they do around a magnet grey PP2? It's invisible, and I like it like that.

And as for the parts bin, the PP2 was a combination of GT PP with GT350 suspension with the GT manual transmission. It was pretty successful, though short lived. The Mach 1 started with the PP2, threw in the Bullet's intake, the GT350"s coolers and rear end, and gave a choice of either the A-10 or Tremec manual transmission, as well as a unique grill. I think that makes it (if you'll pardon the pun) a pretty unique bullet proof track ready daily driver.

If the fake fog light holes in the grill bother you; the air scoops in the quarter panels of the 69 Mach 1 didn't do anything either, and I loved them.

Speaking of fake holes on the body, I guess the mustang owners are the leaders world wide in putting those things everywhere - fake shaker hoods, fake side panel scoops (GT350 style behind the front wheels) and in front of the rear ones, fake quarter panel window scoops, you name it... All this is because at some point in time these were all functional on some selected models and make people believe the car is ready for take-off.
But have you noticed and looked at the modern body work on bmw's and mercs? They come with fake vents and openings all over the place straight out of the factory...and many of those look really cheap. Not to mention fake exhaust tips on those - that's something mustangs can brag about all day - a true rumbling pair of exhausts.

We are the classic example of the forgotten middle child.

After 18 months of ownership, a trend has emerged, at least in Western PA.

GT350 and 500 guys tend to look down on us because, well, we're not them.

GT and EB guys snub us because they think we are rich kids who can afford a nice car.

Every car show I go to, the only people who come to check out the car and lower themselves to actually talk about it are guys who at one time thought about buying one.

Was at a show today and everyone ogled the orange 1969 Chevy Nova next to me but 5-6 people asked about the M1 and almost all said they had thought about buying one. The winner for the "Modern Muscle" class was a 2014 Challenger with an engine cover that had a picture of a Coyote waving a white flag. A guy came over and asked me about the Challenger and I said just point us to the nearest twisty road.

BTW 18 mos and still have only seen 1 other in person, Cyber Orange 2022 last fall. If nothing else we are rare.

Meh. I like all trim, performance models no matter if it is a 500 or a base eb or anything in between as it is about the person caring about automobiles and the hobby . But some have their nose in the air , " I'm better than youu because of what I drive" you don't have to go far it is on display right here on this web site.
They are also the reason many for the last 30 years lost interest in the hobby .
Don't let it get to you , some folks have no manners or moral compass and are only in a performance vehicle for the ego boosting ,look at me . They tend to worry about resale values. And not miles of smiles .
If you're into automobiles no matter the type you're cool with me.

I attended Ford Enthusiats Nationals and Shelbyfest event in Jefferson City Missouri last weekend. I was one of only 2 or 3 S550 Mach 1's there, but received a huge amount of compliments and attention to my Iconic Silver Handling Package Mach 1 during the whole 3 day event. The fellow and his son who was just ahead of me on one of the afternoon cruises was driving a very nice GT350 and they both were very taken with the Mach 1. That was just my experience...and it was a very good one!

to the Oper, I wasn't going to say this the last post cemented my thoughts.
I d stay away from the CAR SHOWS that people bring cars on trailers with no miles just to show them and seldom use them. ( that s a different kind of car guy).Or at least be prepared for that mentality. It s just different, to each his won. You want to go to meets that drive. More of a car and coffee meet. IMO they are more like guys who like driving their rides and not saving them for something.
I don t care , I go to both but usually park my car on the side somewhere and just walk and smoke a cigar or sit and watch. I ve had people find my car and look and talk with me.
Modern day stock cars with nothing extensively done shouldn't be receiving awards anyway.
Know your audience .

For sure. The shows I go to around here, you almost never see anyone showing a car that they didn't drive there. The wife and I like to pick the ones with live music at wineries. I'm not there hoping to win a trophy from the people who judge cars the way they pick the teams in their NCAA basketball March Madness pools based on uniform colors.
