Nobody likes Mach 1's

IN our Mustang club we have 3 fighter jet gray Mach 1s. When I drive mine to a club function, I feel like I arrived in a new york city taxi!!!!! Thats why I drive my 64.5!!

We are the classic example of the forgotten middle child.

After 18 months of ownership, a trend has emerged, at least in Western PA.

GT350 and 500 guys tend to look down on us because, well, we're not them.

GT and EB guys snub us because they think we are rich kids who can afford a nice car.

Every car show I go to, the only people who come to check out the car and lower themselves to actually talk about it are guys who at one time thought about buying one.

Was at a show today and everyone ogled the orange 1969 Chevy Nova next to me but 5-6 people asked about the M1 and almost all said they had thought about buying one. The winner for the "Modern Muscle" class was a 2014 Challenger with an engine cover that had a picture of a Coyote waving a white flag. A guy came over and asked me about the Challenger and I said just point us to the nearest twisty road.

BTW 18 mos and still have only seen 1 other in person, Cyber Orange 2022 last fall. If nothing else we are rare.

There's definitely nothing wrong with a Mach 1. It's cool because it's another unique flavor of Mustang. I agree any car you buy this can happen. Others might not have the same taste you do.

Hopefully you mostly bought it for your own enjoyment and are loving it every time you take it for a drive.

I don't really attend C&C type events and I haven't been to a car show for years. One of the reasons is some people are jerks.

From my experience so far, I have to disagree with your assessment. Obviously we’re from different areas and encounter different situations and people, but that hasn’t been true for me. For one, I didn’t buy my car with the expectation that everyone will be admiring it and giving compliments left and right, in fact I really don’t care what people think. I got it because I love the car, how it looks and drives and everything about it, which is what matters. I’ve never had anyone looking down on me or acting like I’m a jerk for getting a nice car? I’m sure some people are like that, but the majority either don’t care or also like seeing the car. With all that said, I do get tons of compliments. It’s my daily driver, so every day on my commute I get several people in traffic wanting to talk about it along with several thumbs ups out the window, or I just catch people staring out their window at a stop light. The best imo is seeing kids get excited to see it. Of course I enjoy talking to like minded people about it, but I was once that kid not all that long ago that would be excited seeing a car like this, so it’s fun to be able to provide that same experience.

I would love to own a Mach 1. And others opinions about my taste or how I spend my money wouldn't even make my top 10 "fucks to give" list. Just enjoy your car & who cares what others think.

Such an ignorant comment. I have a 21 premium non-hp A10 Mach 1 and I love it! Paid $56,500 which is only a couple thousand more than a PP1 with all the options to = mine.
Just the Mach 1 name/limited production, front and rear looks, and interior were enough for me to spend a little extra to have a special car that's way more rare than a PP1. Then throw in all the coolers and subframe from the Shelby's plus extra 20hp and few hundred RPM's and I'd say it's actually very different. I get nothing but compliments on mine so not anywhere I go. Getting hate from other mustang owners doesn't make sense to me.

M1 is special to the people that like them, plain and simple. Anyone into modifications would likely not be interested. M1 is good for folks that want a decent spec and don't plant to mod the car. I couldn't imagine an M1 getting anymore attention than a gt at a gathering. They are either a fan of the m1 or they think its something more than it is. Again no offense, I'm sure it's a nice car but M1 owners are usually looking for some props cause they spent more than a gt owner. I personally don't want to pay for stuff that I'm going to change. That's why I think that a large portion of m1 owners will keep their car stock.

Again I mean that in the nicest way possible. Nothing wrong with having a nice car and keeping it stock. Stock is just not my thing. My pal has a 2017 1le camaro with 3k miles on it. He tells me I don't know what it's like to have a nice car LOL. To each their own.

My whole issue with the Mach 1 is that it does not look like a Mach 1. No Shaker, no M1 IMHO. Other than that the car looks good. Only seen them on the stealership lot. They apparently don't sell good in my neck of the woods. My local dealer has two of them and they have been there for months. Probably got a crazy ADM still attached.

It's only ignorant because you own a M1 and it does not support your interest. My car is drag race oriented which you are not interested in. You could see my car at a cars and coffee and not walk up. Not a problem for me. Same as I would not walk up to a M1. I'm a mustang fanatic and would not walk up to an M1. Now extrapolate that across people with interest in other cars. For folks that are not interested in mustangs, m1 is a gt with susp, wheels, badges, seat covers and a different trans. Again not bashing the car in any way, it's a great car.

The GT500 guys are still angry about paying all that ADM and the fact that they don’t have the last GT500 made with the recent news of the S650 GT500. They are also starting to miss that 3rd pedal. The 350 guys are all pissed about saving for a new engine. Just enjoy it man and don’t worry about others.

what shaker?

here's the conundrum of mustangs:

1. to get the "special" ones these days you're pushing territory where you could really just get a more refined car
2. even after you do that its still just a mustang. a really cool mustang, i think they're all cool these days (until the 7g's come out) but still a mustang
3. this is the friction point and why the mach 1 is situated in a great position. its not stupid expensive and is genuinely better than a GT. not MILES better but definitely enough to justify the extra cost.

its the same with bullitts when they came out. fantastic cars but basically a special suped up GT.

i woudln't want to deal with the stickers and badging but other than that i think M1's 6spds are just about perfect.

The Mach 1 should have come with a Shaker 100%. CDC does offer a great option, but it isn’t factory. I think I will add one to my Mach.
