Just more info….I bought some stock gt500 and gen2 pieces for various projects and found some interesting things. For one, the gt500 exhaust is all 2 3/4 but it actually necks down to 2 3/8 right at the inlet of the resonator bullets. I think I mentioned before that the flange at the head is a different bolt pattern and the cat is much lower cell count and square matrix (gen3 is hexagonal). The gen2 piping after the cat is smaller than Gen3 (2 1/4” vs gen3 2 1/2”) and Gen2 necks down to 2” at the expansion joint.
Standard GT resonator does a similar thing :
  • Standard pipe diameter = 2.5"
  • Diameter at front manifold clamps = 2.25" (same for standard resonator and resonator deletes).
  • Diameter at resonator outlet joint = 2.00" (removed with resonator delete).

I asked Corsa if it was 3" everywhere or if i reduced down anywhere. The person i spoke to claimed 3in throughout. I dont have the stones to cut a muffler open to call their bluff.
Just FYI for anyone curious, I ordered a Corsa Touring to see if I can make it any quieter/lighter/simpler than my Magnaflow w/Helmholtz resonators. I can confirm that the system is a full 3" all the way through. The only questionable area is where it goes from 3" to dual 2.5" tips. I would have preferred all 4 tips to be 3" because the exhaust will favor the ones in-line with the muffler outlet. It's probably not a concern but it irks me.

I wanted to update you here as I have found a true dual 3" resonated X-Pipe that will fit our Mustangs.

It's the Jones MF2469 which is a 5"x8" Stainless Oval muffler that has a tru 3" internal x-pipe crossover which is designed very similar to the Magnaflow 12469, but is actually dimensionally a little smaller so it seems to fit much better underneath the car. As you already know the Magnaflow 12469 is a double >-< which wasn't ideal for boosted set ups.

I recently replaced my Borla 2.5" resonated H-pipe that still necked down to the factory 2.25" connection. I run Mak-Delete Pipes and had 3" v-bands welded to the Mak's and installed the Jones resonator and connected it to my Borla 3" S-Type. Now I have a true dual 3" exhaust which actually sounds amazing. No rasp and very little cabin drone just under 2000rpm. Here's the link on Amazon to ensure that you actually get the X-Pipe version and not the >-< that they also offer.

The Jones MF2469 I received from summit last year was actually a double y and it necked down to 2.5” at the inlet. Spoke to the owner of Jones and after some back and forth it was determined that his source in China changed the design without him knowing.. that is what he said… he checked a whole pallet and they were all the same… no offer for a refund…maybe he corrected the error or you may have got old stock..

Let’s hope that Jones got this straight. It would be nice to have another option in case stainlessbros is backordered or discontinues theirs.

I actually found a specific vendor on Amazon while searching some Camaro Forums that actually orders the mufflers straight from Jones and they're the Tru-X and not the Double-Y version. The Amazon link I provided is to the vendor that actually sells the TruX version that gets ordered directly from Jones Exhaust. Mine is definitely a Tru-X.

They all come from jones direct by way of China… I spoke with the owner several times regrading my issue… at the time he had a whole pallet that were y… guess he got the issue corrected… I’m going to call him and ask him to swap mine out…I had the Borla 60661 installed with the 2 1/4 cut off so it’s 2.5 all the way through… made same power vs the Borla 3 inch x pipe that came with my Borla s exhaust

The Borla 60661 is the same one that I replaced with the Jones Tru-X. The sound is much better imo and it doesn't leak from the crappy factory connects. Does it make more power now...? probably not, but there's no longer any restriction.

Never used with factory connect.. cut off and welded on 2.5” to 3” transitions and v banded.

Has anyone tried a 3" total flow X? I have a "modified" borla stype but it seems the TF flows much better than the Borla X....might not matter to some but as a turbo guy my butt dyno puckered!🤣 Just made the switch this weekend so no datalogs yet.

My stainless bros resonator lasted one track day and 4 roll races before it blew all the packing out through the welds. It actually blew apart. V-band from headers to full 3 inch Corsa exhaust. I now run 2 bullet style resonators welded into the x pipe and it's way better.

Thanks for the link, purchased one and can confirm mine is a true dual 3" resonated x as well.
How much would you say the volume increase was going from the 60661 to this?

I'll be pulleying down to the 100mm pulley soon on the G3 and my 2.5 exhaust with the 2.5 magnaflow tru-x won't cut it anymore
I have catless headers and paired with the 3" borla S-type I plan to purchase I feel the MF2469 won't do enough to quiet it down.

As an experiment I also purchased two 50mm wastegates and if I can find someone to fit them on my current 2.5" exhaust I'll forgo purchasing the 3" S-type
