Big insurance increase (State Farm)--anyone else?

state farm is trash, Geico has always given me the best rate.

Geico is also trash. They literally funded the research and development of laser radar so cops could ticket their customers, and they could raise their rates.

My guy calls me each year before the renewal and lays out my options.

My guy was gonna let me just pay $1700 more and no phone call. It’s great to have good people who look out for you, that’s becoming very hard to find.

Thank you OP for creating this thread, I was actually tempted to go pick up the mustang I ordered and backed out of…until I just checked rates (and found out my salesman no longer works at the dealer). My last 2021 GT back in 21 was about 80-82 a month. 2023 with same coverage as back then would now cost me $119 per month!!! And I haven’t had a ticket since 2008. Yikes!!

Yeah, I’ve heard about that. I’m sure we make up for it in other ways. In nothing else we make up for it in pure boredom

I've had auto coverage through State Farm for many years (20-ish) and usually been satisfied with their auto rates. But they just increased the premium on my '18 Mustang GT by 27% out of the blue. I haven't had any auto claims, tickets, or accidents recently. The only explanation is a cryptic note that about a "change in vehicle rating/group."

Insurance is so specific by state and even city, this may not be affecting owners in other locations--but if any of you have State Farm (especially in Texas) have you seen a big increase?

I asked this same question a few months ago Anyone Else's Insurance Rate Increased? (+30%!) and none of the responses I got seemed to be anywhere near my 30% State Farm increase. Not to be cruel, but glad it wasn't just me. Now I just need to get off my lazy but and find a new insurance company. I called All State and they were even more expensive than State Farm.

Yikes. All these insurance price increases. One of the first things I did was to disable my TCU/LTE modem(s), just in case Ford wanted to provide insurance companies with my driving data. Nothing in life is free, and that includes FordPass points. I can do my own oil changes.

Currently with Farmers, but my insurance broker works with a lot of different carriers.

Send me a PM if you want to know the broker I work with. Keep in mind I am in PA, I don't know what their coverage area is.

Can confirm as I have had state farm for the past 10 years. EB Mustang was around $500 every 6 months. '22 GT was $600/6 months. Focus ST ended up being almost the same as the GT. Then the real shocker was the '23 GT - $850/6 months . Just reinstated insurance on my '66 and that's $300/6 months - probably will switch to Hagerty for that one.

Only one accident 10 years ago (t-boned a Jetta in my '66 night before I went to boot camp...), no tickets. I asked why my '23 was so much more - apparently Mustangs are considered "luxury cars" and also area rate increase.

I'd try USAA...but when I first got my Fiesta ST, they wanted $800/6 months, state farm was $400.

As long as the popo's hands are tied, and the thugs can pillage and not worry about the police.
This is going to happen. It is now a free for all .
Then you had the Insurance co's totaling out vehicles so body shops would have parts to fix vehicles, instead of repairing them when the used vehicle values where inflated .
I know, no one saw this coming <rolls eyes>.
First part we can't talk about, but it is unintended consequences of checking boxes because it feels good, not using logic and reason.

Yep! I was with geico for over 20+ and the rates kept going up. Just switched progressive and I saved a few. Anyone used the general insurance?
