Put a K&N Blackhawk CAI on a couple weeks ago, and cleaned her up a bit today

Say roofhopper, did you adapt your Blackhawk CAI to fit your 2022 from another vehicle or a different year maybe? I can’t find one listed for a 22 GT on the K&N site.

Was yours as much of a PITA to install as mine was? What year is your car?
I had it done, but was under there with the tech. Looked at some tips [taping the front spacers on the brace, etc.] first that made it pretty easy. Mine is a 17 GT per my signature.

Installed the Ford Performance hood struts and programmed the garage door openers. I should have spent the extra money and bought the Steeda struts. They have a more robust connecting plate on the hood hinge bolt.

Amazing in my opinion.

I can see why people say They don’t favor heavy cars on track but at the same time, I feel like in a 25min session they held up very well. They like very low cold pressures. For the first session, I started at 25psi but didn’t come anywhere near the wear bars/triangle so I went to 23psi for the remaining sessions and I touches the top of the triangle. This was at -3* each side and I MAY try to take some camber out. I’ve read that due to stiff sidewalls they don’t like too much camber so it would also be that. They w were ready to go by lap 2. I set a PB but that could’ve been more coaching than tires. Also, I reached a new top speed on the long straight at Summit Point Main. Previous top speed was about 134/135. I got to 138 today. I have yet to review that data on the Gs but they held up in turns and under braking. With RST-3/RSL 29 F/R pads they didn’t seem to overwhelm the tires. Never activated ABS. Solid solid tire. Planning to go back within a month to run another test. When I start doing TT with SCCA this will be a good tire to start out on

Thanks for detailed review! In your personal experience, what other tires have you tried and how do these compare to them?

I taped mine on to make it easier but the brace didn’t slide into place… it wasn’t bad once I figured out to use tie downs to hold it how I wanted it… but that took longer than it should have.

2020-RE71R
2021-GY SC3
2022- Toyo RRs

But i dont think I can truly compare because my skill has grown exponentially. I think a fair comparison would be more than one tire within a year

Does that shift knob just screw on like the stock knob, or is there any special installation required?
There is a bit of special instructions. There is a jam nut that must be properly adjusted for both reverse lockout functionality and that your shift pattern lines up. It's not hard, just some things to pay attention.

Here is an install PDF link from CJ Pony Parts.
