2020 Mustang Headlight Condensation

Does anyone know how to dry out condensation from the 2018+ mustang headlights without actually opening the whole unit? I’ve searched videos and there’s nothing, but for other cars I’ve seen where they find a small access hole in the headlight and put a blow dryer to evaporate all the water. Does anyone know if the 2018+ mustang headlight has something like that? Or am I forced to opening it?. I bought the car used with 30k miles back in April . And maybe like 3 months ago the driver side headlight started getting fogged up. I didn’t really pay much attention since I read that they had vents and it was normal. Till I saw it got progressively worse, and I took it to a Ford dealer ship and they held my car for a week just to tell me that since my headlights were oem it was normal. Wtv ig so I left it, it got worse again whwre it was stay fogged up with driplets on sunny dry days all week. Took it to another dealer and they held it for a week to tell me that my headlights are NOT factory so Ford will not cover them so one dealer told me it was factory and the other dealer told me they weren’t. And yes I have warranty still which is why I took it to them. So now I’m on my own to get it fixed because I called at least 12 different shops and no one reseals headlights. And recently my other headlight started doing the same. So now for that past 4 days both headlights have been fogged up with water drops in them. So can someone please give any tips? I do not like the after market headlights that are out there on the market. I like the oem style, is there a way of drying them out? Without having to put them in the “oven” (which I don’t have one big enough for the headlights ).

Yeah that's pretty bad, I'd want them replaced personally.

You could check the listings on here and see if anyone is selling their OEM headlights if you want OEM.

i'm not sure if the US owners manual has this but the UK one does. I'd say yours are an example of unacceptable condensation with streaks and mist way over the 50percent coverage


Examples of acceptable condensation are:
• The presence of a fine mist (no streaks,
drip marks or large droplets).
• A fine mist covers less than 50% of the
lens.
Examples of unacceptable condensation
are:
• A water puddle inside the lamp.
• Streaks, drip marks or large droplets
present on the interior of the lens.
If you see any unacceptable condensation,
have your vehicle checked by an authorized
dealer.

I would think that is a warrantable failure of the seals.

Unless your car was underwater, that should not occur.

What is weird is that is both lights. I’m leaning toward manufacturing defect in the lights or process on assembly line did exact same thing on both headlight to cause it

The 2nd ford dealership told me they were aftermarket .. so they won’t fix it.

They look OEM to me. Maybe the blackout for the reflector fooled them?

No one of the mechanics personally told me that he used to work at a likes shop where they’d do custom headlights or wtv. And my headlights were obviously aftermarket due to the fact that the silicone or adhesive that keeps the housing together was black. And apparently ford only used white or clear silicone .

To be fair it does look like someone tinted the orange reflectors, unless you did that?

Yes I did that myself and it’s just a tint sticker that sticks on the outside of the headlight.

It’s currently 6:30 am for me and I’m heading for work so it’s not the best pics but I can try to get some more clear ones later if you want.

There are (3) ways to tell if your 2018+ headlights are OEM Ford:

NON-EVASIVE checks:
- On the front of each lens, lower edge of the clear lens but directly over the amber reflector area you will see the "Ford oval" along with SAE or DOT numbers embossed into the lens.

- On the inside of each corner in the black area but above the amber reflector, the Mustang Pony will be present.

EVASIVE checks:
- Pull the headlight assembly off and the black plastic casing will have Ford part #'s cast into it AND there will be white QR decals usually affixed to the top of each assembly with Ford part numbering details.

If you find any of the (3) on your headlight assemblies - go back to that last Dealer and tell them they need Techs who know how to tell real Ford parts from aftermarket.

Aftermarket parts are not allowed to use any likeliness of the Ford word, Ford oval/logos, the Mustang word/Images/Pony OR Ford part numbering because it's all copyrighted and protected by other patent laws etc.

Some cheaper aftermarket parts also won't have any DOT approval numbers or embossing because they're not up to passing DOT safety or crash standards.
