UnderHood insulation cover removal?

Considering there have been threads on here with mouldy hood blankets, I don’t think purposefully using it to channel water was the smartest of ideas …

I agree. If you live in the UK or other relatively "wet" climate and you plan on keeping the hood liner in good condition, I would suggest a liberal application of water repellant to inner and outer surfaces.

I have found that, it stays damp for a few days and the under hood temps cooks them. It really acts as a wet sock of sorts.. Id rather have water on the insulation and not motor or engine bay. But i'm jammed up due to the damp insulation hitting the strut tower brace and pitting aluminum.

Have paint protection film placed around the brace. Then you can just wipe it down no issues with pits stains etc

On our 2019 GT PP1, we removed the insulation and engine block UFO August 2019, and installed Ford Performance bonnet struts the same day. No issues!

Okay, so, I’d read this thread the other day and didn’t think much about it. Then I looked under my hood just now to make sure no rodents are in there and noticed I don’t have an insulation cover at all.

Anybody else have this on their 2022 Mistang GT? Is this something the dealer might have removed? If so, why?

Mine has one, I had to remove it to install my Air Design hood vents. I put it back on because the underside of the hood is pretty fugly. Wish the 18+ got the Mustang stamped in the hood like the 15-17.

Thanks. Now I have to wonder why it was removed. And I want the car to be the way it was shipped from the factory.

BTW, I picked it up a couple of weeks ago and I have 550 miles on it.

Yeah that’s weird. I’d call your dealer and see if they removed it (and ask them why).

They removed it, they all come from factory with them. Demand a new hood insulation from dealer.
