I don't know what the final engine cover will look like. All the pics that I've seen look pre production.

Does anyone take their cover off? I read in another forum years ago (grand prix forum) that it actually can hold in engine heat and removing it can be beneficial.

Is it for anything other than looks?

The older one was looks only. Just snapped in via rubber grommets

This is the trash can lid that comes on the 5.7 Hemi now this thing holds in heat. The new Mustang ones don't look anywhere as restricting.

I ordered 392 half covers, shaved the lettering off and had these custom badges made. Naked engines (no cover) are ugly.

Naked engines are gorgeous and far better looking than ANY plastic cover.

But then you remember we still drive a Ford.

Hell just look at the 3.7 without and with

I agree. I am also happy he had a modular engine in there. IMHO the Ford Modular is one of the best looking without a cover.

But unfortunately none of the engines in the S550 look like that. We'll see what the GT350's looks like, but seeing as it's N/A, I wouldn't be surprised to see a cover on it too.

Not sure how posting pictures of exotic motors and a highly customized Mitsu motor really drives your point across? That's not what's under the covers on the Mustangs, so how does that apply here? Obviously they could be 'dressed up' with a bunch of aftermarket stuff to look nice. But that's the case with anything.

That was my though too. Ferrari and Maserati engines cost more than a Mustang.

I can see where he's coming from. I don't think it's too farfetched for Ford, Chevy, or Dodge to just start building prettier motors instead of putting ugly plastic over them. Those "exotic" companies take time to make them look nice and I don't understand why there aren't any domestics that follow.

Are you listening, :ford:

There is a reason those cars cost $200k+ and Mustang is around $30k......but hey lets make the engines pretty and charge $50k msrp for the base model due to a pretty engine bay then we can complain the car is too expensive...
