I have 2015gt. I use Mobil one extended performance synthetic oil and extended performance filter. My car is not my daily and only put around 5000 miles a year on it. What would be your suggestion on how often to change oil being that Mobil one is 20000 mile. I was thinking just once year

Thatā€™s what Iā€™ve done ever since I retired. And I continue to use Ford OEM semi synth. I grew up with the every 2000 miles or else syndrome but times has changed. Once a year is just fine.

Follow the Oil Life Monitor in the gauge

Skye is not my DD. I'm probably going to be once a year, factory oil and filter, at Spring thaw.

The Owner's Manual highlights the Intelligent Oil Life Monitor in the car; it uses driving habits, mileage, elapsed time, etc. The Owner's Manual also lists some expected times or mileage it will tell you to change the oil.

If you follow the IOLM, you'll be fine. People with modded cars, who track or have unique setups, their intervals could certainly differ.

The guage is designed to zero out at a year if mileage is under 10k as per manufacturers recommendation.
Agreed. Time and vehicle usage among other conditions are factors used to determine "oil life" percentage. Changing once a year is likely to be just fine, but if the IOLM says change it before a year is up I'd do it.

+1 on once a year.but check oil levels,I go thru a qt every 3000 miles.so oil life may look good but you may not have enough

I tend to do changes every 3-4000 miles, but there's many months in between them. Just not on the road as much nowadays with remote work and all. Year's fine, otherwise follow the oil life indicator.

That's a great point  DEFINITELY check the oil level frequently. The IOLM isn't going to tell you the dipstick is bone dry. I think Ford recommends once a month in the owner's manual (probably not necessary to do monthly if you don't drive it that much)

I change mine when the oil life monitor says to. I check my oil level every 500 miles and keep it full.

I bought my new 21 gt in march, so right now i go by what the dealer says because i got a few free oil changes, every 5k. i have to bring it in today for a change cause i'm at 10k. But the oil isnt even dark yet and level hasnt moved since i was at 5k.

Oil changes are cheap, engines are expensive. Every 5,000 miles or at least once per year. Remember the OCIā€™s specā€™d by the manufacturer are a combination of marketing to keep maintenance costs low which feeds onto total cost of operation/ownership and the minimum level of maintenance that will get the engine through the warranty period.

Used the oil like monitor. Itā€™s once a year for
me. The time gets me not the mileage.

Another vote for once per year. My previous fun car was Z4 which had full synthetic from the factory. I changed the oil each spring when I took it out of storage even though it was far from running up against mileage life.
