I thought I remember hearing somewhere that Ford would not allow a back-to-back comparo be done with the Mach 1 and GT500 because the Mach 1 was almost as fast when equipped with the Handling Pack.

A few laps of McDonalds maybe, but let the 500 stretch it’s legs and it would walk away from the Mach with ease …I thought I remember hearing somewhere that Ford would not allow a back-to-back comparo be done with the Mach 1 and GT500 because the Mach 1 was almost as fast when equipped with the Handling Pack.

You joking? LolI thought I remember hearing somewhere that Ford would not allow a back-to-back comparo be done with the Mach 1 and GT500 because the Mach 1 was almost as fast when equipped with the Handling Pack.
Yea, that’s not a fair fight. Two different weight classes.A few laps of McDonalds maybe, but let the 500 stretch it’s legs and it would walk away from the Mach with ease …

there's a great video of a dude in a BRZ being slowed down by a guy in a C8 vette because the C8 guy kept passing in the straights and being slower in the corners. You joking? Lol
I’m guessing you are because the HP offers no speed benefit. At least not in a straight line. On a track with the right driver- sure.
I was comparing a M1 without HP to one with.there's a great video of a dude in a BRZ being slowed down by a guy in a C8 vette because the C8 guy kept passing in the straights and being slower in the corners.
weight ruins everything and handling matters. there's only so much tire and power you can throw at the problem before all you see are diminished returns.
a few hundred lbs more on an already porky chassis matters a lot.
it seems plausible.
but you were replying to a guy talking about gt500 vs m1...I was comparing a M1 without HP to one with.
Right, gotcha. I guess I would be surprised in that case. Pleasantly surprised since I’m $58K invented into an M1.but you were replying to a guy talking about gt500 vs m1...
you likely meant the GT350 and Mach 1... track wise, these two are pretty much hand in handI thought I remember hearing somewhere that Ford would not allow a back-to-back comparo be done with the Mach 1 and GT500 because the Mach 1 was almost as fast when equipped with the Handling Pack.
no, I wasn’t. Certainly both best the Mach in a straight line but in the corners, it’s close. Here are the numbers…you likely meant the GT350 and Mach 1... track wise, these two are pretty much hand in hand
GT500 blows away both on the track, not even close. you're talking nearly double the power in a car just as, if not more, capable
wonder how it would compare if the gt500 had the cup 2s on itno, I wasn’t. Certainly both best the Mach in a straight line but in the corners, it’s close. Here are the numbers…

Remains a very tight margin. They compare the numbers with a GT350R which came with the Cup 2’s.wonder how it would compare if the gt500 had the cup 2s on it
good article
And the 1LE is faster than any of the mustangs listed.Remains a very tight margin. They compare the numbers with a GT350R which came with the Cup 2’s.
I find it quite interesting that people cross shop the Z and the "new supra" with the Mustang.Hey guys,
So looking to get a Mach 1 before they are fully sold out... what got me interested in one is that my buddy has a 2017 350, I loved everything about it but mostly the planted feel of the suspension when driving and the tranny which is the Tremec for both =). I have driven other "standard" GTs before without magnetic suspension and they feel floaty and not as stable plus the ride is not much softer than the 350, they just dont feel special at all.
I dont have Mach 1s locally to test drive, but since Ive heard the suspension bits of the 350 and Mach 1 are exactly the same down to the bushings... can I expect the same "planted feel" driving dynamics in the Mach 1...? If the the ride is similar to a standard GT without mag shocks, I prefer to pass and get a Supra Manual.
Thanks!
