I am not an autobody expert, but I am fairly certain it isn't supposed to look like that

I'd say no. It didn't damage the rim, so may be mostly sheet metal.

That looks pretty bad, man. Did it pop any airbags (side curtain?). That ramps up the repair price substantially. To be honest, if it were my car, I think I'd just want it totaled. Everything is fixable, yes. The issue insurance will look at is cost to fix vs. pay you out its value and move on. If that happens, you have first dibs on buying the car back and fixing it on your own, but it'll have a "rebuilt salvage" title that will go with it forever.

To total a vehicle, in most States the cost of repairs has to exceed 72%-75% of ACV.

If air bags popped, and looking at only the outside/exterior damages - just to do a rear 1/4 panel replacement is an easy $8k - that’s not Including touching any other damages seen or unseen. If the inner structure behind the 1/4 is damaged, it could affect the integrity of the body shell itself. Hard to say without seeing that 1/4 panel removed.

I’m going to say due to multiple air bag deployments your estimate is going to be upwards of $15k-20k, and that’s being conservative - especially being impacted from a stop light. Once they start removing the sheet metal, who knows what lies underneath that is damaged.

What’s it look like inside the trunk with trunk liners and floor covering removed? I’d be willing to bet the trunk pan is breached along with the inner wheel well showing signs of being tweaked.

I didn’t look inside the trunk but im pretty sure by looking at the damage the trunk need work but i did take the wheel off and look under the car just the strut damaged/bent i was shocked tbh

I'd say fixable, yes. Will insurance fix it? No, they'll consider it a total loss for them, but very fixable. Make sure it goes on a LASER frame measuring machine, and everything needs to be (or be pulled) to no more than 1/16th inch off on anything.

Does the door open and close normally or does it feel like it's in a bind? If the door frame is deformed badly that's not going to help. If it isn't than maybe just a rear quater replacement. It looks like it missed the door in the pic.

Yea it close perfect the rear quarter just damaged honestly if they totaled it its because the airbags i know they are pretty expensive but hey atleast i walked out of it alive i can get another car easily but just that car process annoying going to a dealer finding the car you want etc

Yes you're very lucky you didn't suffer any injuries from an accident like that one, or that you didn't have any rear passengers.

If you don't mind the ask - what type of vehicle was the one that hit you? SUV or car?
