Mercon LV gets dark pretty fast, so that's normal. But good on you for getting it changed!

Lots of cars coming out of hibernation now, mine included :sunglasses:

A good wash and the glass inside and out. I didn’t do the dreaded back screen on the inside, I got distracted by helping with the gardening (man talk for I got told :giggle:).

Took it for a quick spin to see my parents (and check on dad - came off his push bike at 82 but he’s OK). Couldn’t resist a quick photo from their kitchen door :

9 miles later … :frown:

Never mind, cleaned the door shuts, under the hood, dressed the tyres and gave the tips a good internal :

Got the youngest in bed and went out for an evening spin, only to see them salting the roads again WTF, got home quickly (and unsalted), sulked a bit and then fitted some nice wraps to secure the CTEK charging tail :

The standard cable ties were really cutting into the CTEK insulation that gets very soft with the under hood temps.

Not putting it back on the maintenance charger now, hopefully we’re done with that until late autumn - looking forward to some more good (salt free) weather :sunglasses:

I bet you attract quite the attention when you go out in that, especially with how clean you keep it.

Yeah in the big scheme of things they are a reasonably rare car over here (10,000 since 2015) and they seem well liked by most people.

Add in a stupid colour (and track mode exhaust lol) and it does attract a lot of attention - I was reminded of that today :sunglasses:

Picked it up from the shop on Thursday. Alignment, oil change and retightening of all the braces' bolts.

Rolled over 23k miles.

2-3oz of oil in the catch can.

Finally had some nice weather this weekend so I tackled the front windscreen. I think the previous owner had a coating applied and it had started to break down. I had this terrible film which was only noticeable when drying the window.

I've had all sorts on to try and shift it. Various cleaners, rubbing alcohol, etc. Nothing would shift it. So today I brought out the big guns.

Here is how it looked half way through (passender side has been polished).

And when all done.

I was hoping it might get some of the tiny chips out of the glass but my DA Polisher decided to die so I couldn't do any further passes. Here are the little marks that really annoy me when the sun hits the windscreen.

And we recently had a lovely dust cloud pass over the UK from Africa. So the car needed a good wash.

All clean again. :)

Phew. Now to go DA Polisher shopping. :)
Nothing like freshly polished glass! You will not get out deeper scratches or pitting from polishing though.

What polisher are looking to get? Battery or Corded?

I replaced my old corded polisher with two ShineMate battery machines recently. With two batteries, you will be armed with plenty of capacity. I love mine, so much easier to manage than a corded machine, without sacrificing too in power or correcting ability. Ideally, I would have got the Flex equivalent but they are so expensive in Australia. For the price of one Flex, I got two machines, four batteries, a charger and a storage bag.

For a corded machine, I would personally go with a Rupes LHR15 MK III. To be honest, the battery ShineMates have me very well sorted though -

I have also put a number of people onto the ShineMate version -

Installed the new shifter and euro tail lights as well as an LED reverse bulb that actually was a much bigger pain in the a** than I was expecting with the rear diffuser.

Yesterday, finally tackled doing the jailbreak of Sync3 so I can play with the themes and wallpapers.

Nice, looks good.

Are there just more themes to choose from, or can you literally design whatever you want?

Also, does it give you more radio capability? One thing that drives me nuts on Ford Sync 3.4 is when hitting "next" on radio presets, it cycles only through the 6, then you have to swipe for next page and then it lets you cycle through the next 6.

On some loaner Escapes (which I think have SYNC 4, just the smaller version) you can hit next through all 15 presets. I'd gladly give up 3 presets for ability to cycle through them all instead of 6 at a time.

I’m just starting down this road, but yes you can design what ever theme you want, assuming you have the tools, skills, and understanding of what you are doing. This is a theme that someone else made and posted on the FMOD site. I intend to do my own in time. Some have written their own apps for the system and I’m sure if you knew what you were doing you could solve the preset issue. But you would have to get into the system pretty deep to do something like that.

Fortunately it’s just a flat, I’m working from home this week, got spares in a storage building, and roommates that’ll let me borrow their cars. But I don’t want to have to do this again.
