Friendly reminder not to overly rely on traction control.

I had a set of studded tires years ago, when they were legal here. They are definitely a mixed bag. A decent set of Blizzaks worked a lot better.

I don't like traction control in wintery conditions, personally. That's why I like that my winter beater doesn't have it at all. Being able to aggressively boot the throttle when needed is exceptionally useful.

I had the "pleasure" of driving an old Saturn in some bad snow. This car felt like it maybe had 50 hp... I swear I could push it faster. Anyways, mashing the gas pedal on this thing made a bees dick worth of a difference. This car scared me for, quite literally, the exact opposite reasons why my Mustang GT can scare me 😆.

My Taurus eats snow for breakfast with winter tires, lol.

Actually it is unwise to drive with any auto control. Having an attitude it's smarter than the driver. In some cases it is, but still not smart.

Rolling down the road playing patty cake, slapping the legs to some tune, not smart, fools gold.

Actually saw GM advertising 15, (fifteen) onboard cameras. You must be kidding, that is not distracted driving somehow?

We are living in a world of fools, 80% cannot walk and chew gum as it is.

That last part has been a constant since gum existed to be chewed. Idk what GM does with their 15 cameras but my dad's Genesis G80 uses a bunch of cameras to render a top-down image on the main screen. It's actually really cool and helpful when navigating, that boat of a car, in tight spaces.

Ya, that ad sent me over the edge. With this new tech. The last thing you want is people thinking they can just let it go. You want them to use extreme caution, not patty cakes.

Seriously, especially to those that daily the car (like me). This isn't to debate the usefulness of TC or start a nani war.

I have winter performance tires that keep the rear end in line even in several inches of snow. I'm driving home this morning and there's sleet on the roads. These tires + TC and I still got sideways without even doing anything.

Always be prepared and alert. TC will help you but it won't save the car if you're being a derp. Stay safe, friends; don't become another youtube video.
One of the first things I do when I start driving the car is turn T/C off.
I wish it was a toggle stitch so when you turn it off, it stay off, till I turn it back on.
I am in the drivers seat, not the nanny controls software That THINKS it knows best. I expect my inpts to cause the vehicle to react a certain way. The T/C and other nannies, can't read my mind nor see what I see on the road, in front, beside and behind me. Maybe these "Drivers aids" help those with zero vehicle control. that got a drivers lic out of a cracker jack's box. But All they do for those with better driving skills id fight you , not good when you NEED the vehicle to do what you are asking of it, but the nanny software isn't sure it should follow your orders.
#1 rule of having a drivers lic. per the rmv, is you are to have complete control of vehicle you are driving. Would the oem's please be kind enough to give that to the drivers.

How much HP is your Mustang producing? I found traction control useful in my 662HP 2013 GT500. I find it pretty useful in my 460hp GT. Especially running sticky summer tires in cooler weather. They can be pretty slippery.
If I want to get crazy. I can always turn it off.

Cars with 300 hp all the way upto 800+ hp but more importantly, 500+ ft lb from 2000 rpm to 8900/9200.
The software is set up for working with the car and a driver with very limited seat time in a high powered performance car, it is not coded for the actions of those with seat time and car control, As what those with seat time, tend to use inputs the driver with limited seat time would not.
All the software is designed/coded to help a nervous driver make it through an issue while they are collectively crapping their pants, not dor the seat time, car control skilled driver that will drive through it. That is the reason track mode, the CAR turns just about all the "drivers aids off" Even Ford know they will hinder not help.

Yep I had a bad experience with the TC myself and don’t trust it personally.
It was early in the morning and the roads were slightly slippery. I had accidentally put the shifter into S instead of D. Usually I don’t put it into sport mode until I’m fully warmed up. I did a right hand onto a main road which is 70km/h and to not slow the car behind me so I gave it a slight jab of throttle thinking it was in Normal mode where the throttle is not as sensitive. My wheels started spinning a bit but nothing redicilous, I tried to correct the car but I think the TC kicked in and spun me around 180 degrees.
I wasn’t even trying to do anything crazy and have driven a lot more “enthusiastically” many times before (usually with the TC OFF).
I don’t know if it was just the “perfect” scenario to spin me out or there was something slippery on the road or the TC F’ed me?!,!

Drove to work at 6 am today. Black ice everywhere on local roads despite car saying 36F. Car maneuvers with aggression on surfaces I can barely walk on. Purchase choice of studded tires again justified.

It kind of started a "nani war" and TC debate anyway. 😁
