Went to the dentist this morning, came out 30 minutes later and my hood had been bombed by birds. I know the Turtle Wax Hybrid Ceramic spray isn’t the professional grade stuff but it protected my paint from any etching. Simple spray with the hose when I got home and all was well.

to be fair, the turtle wax hybrid is AMAZING stuff for the cost to use ratio. seriously, it fairs quite well against the other products in that category. I actually use it on my generator, I put a couple coats on my generac backup generator when I do maintenance on it once a year. I do like 2-3 coats just for heck of it, ive been using it for misc stuff and im like 60% left on bottle. I use it on the motorcycles etc.

When I go to wash/clean it the next year, the dirt/grime/bird droppings slides right off. could probably clean the whole thing spotless with baby wipes. I dont dick with it though til that yearly oil change. so everything is naturally washed off by rain and apparently its still there a year later as it just rolls the dirt off with high power hose/little cloth/soap

I was just thinking about which set of these to get. I didn't want to bend my hood. For some reason the Steeda ones i had were defective. Over time they wouldn't hold my hood up any longer. Was this an easy install? They should fit in the same slots/position as my old ones.
I chose the Redlines after spending a morning going through all the hood strut threads here.
Easy install; just gotta hold your mouth right  to get the fender bracket into the hole. If your old brackets are still in there, they may well fit as is.

The next time my wife makes fun of me for washing my lawnmower (once a year), I can say: "Well, I internet-know a guy that waxes his generator, so buzz off".

I wash off my push mower after mow. My dad always did, thought that was normal until I had a neighbor stare at me. 😂 he also doesn’t wash his car

I just did a quick check, and my 2020 dash does display my chosen mycolour here in the morning sun:

20210607_085244.webp
20210607_085244.webp
20210607_085304.webp

When back inside I thought maybe it could be related to my sync3 setting being set to "always night mode" (or whatever it's called), though I don't think it would be logical that this would affect the dash since I don't think there's any other setting in sync3 that affects the dash.

Other random ideas at the top of my head:
- Ford changed this in later versions of the dash firmware.
- Something related to European models and/or daytime running lights (DRL are mandatory here). Does anything change if you turn on the lights?
The PP gauges in my 2021 stay white during the day but my 12” display keeps the mycolor. I think since he doesn’t have the 12” he is loosing the color cause that’s a new feature to the 12”?

I use to wash mine, sprayed the my riders mower, engine, body. Then I started having problems with linkage etc... quit washing. Haven't had one problem since

5 years on my cub cadet and my Husqvarna push more, ive never took water to it. loose new, just dirty / dusty. it has a spot where you can plug a hose on it and clean it out, but havnt seen a point, I only mow when its primarily dry, nothings really caked up. every once in awhile I take a leaf blower to it. Lol

but my mower is stored in a shed. no moisture or anything gets to it.

didn't realize people washed them really

Wrapped my prop rod in tesa tape. No more burned fingers for me. (Yes I know I can buy hood struts but I don't want to)
more to the point, how are you managing to burn your fingers in the first place? Wouldn't the first 6 inches or so suffice?

If you ever try to use the rod after the engine has been on for any amount of time, it gets absurdly hot. And yeah, I could have just done the first 6 inches, but I have several rolls of the tape so I decided to just keep going lol
