Personally, I wouldn't bother trying to get more life out of the rears. Tail happy isn't something I enjoy.

I'd also suggest trying out goodyear SC3 after those are dead, they last long and are great track tires. Prob not as fast as the cup 2's, but if you are thinking about sacrificing lap times to get more life out of the tire the SC3 would be great. Also consider getting a square set of wheels/tires to rotate front to back on track, that would help even the wear and get a bit more life out of them too.
Have you tracked the Goodyears? How are they compared to Michelins Sc 2 ?
I see them in 305 / 30/19 only on Tirerack, but that should work on all 4 corners, no? I know I won't be able to swap front and back as I track with the OEM carbon wheels, but should handle OK like that, no?
Also, there is a Supercar 3, and a Supercar3R, which is not rated yet on Tirerack... The 3R seems to be more of a slick than the 3, so more track oriented ? Which one?..

I am running that size 305/30/19 on all corners for street now on R spec size rims from Signature Wheels, they are fine.

Does anyone see that there are less choices this year? I have RE71s on my car, 305 square and they dont seem to make them anymore
Did you track the RE71s with oem carbon wheels? So it handled ok with 305 square; as above I am thinking of the Goodyears, I see they are available in 305.

Many thanks all.

As a new R owner, I’ve shredded my my cup 2’s nicely and ready to slap on a new set that I purchased. Only question is who do you guys trust with installing tires on the Carbon Fiber wheels? Discount tire down the way has a touch less contraption but not sure if that’s something you all recommend?

They would have to have this tool. Just call them up and ask them, normally, DT does. I also know there is only 1 Mavis store within radius that has the tool. They may have 8 bays but only 1 bay may have the tool since it's super expensive. You just have to do your research and call.

I've ran SC3, SC3r, RE71R (not avail anymore i think), non-R cup 2's, nt01, and super sports on this car so far all mostly on track. SO can't compare to the R cup 2's, but bang for the buck the SC3 is best so far IMO. I run all but the super sports on 19x11 rotatable square and all in 305/30/19 except for super sports I use 305/35/19 on R spec wheels. My fastest laps at my home track were on the RE71R, but we are talking 2 tenths between those and the SC3, and that could just be conditions or driver easily. I haven't ran the SC3R at my home track so not sure yet how much faster they are than the SC3, but they def wear about 2x as fast from what I'm seeing.

I've got 6 days on the SC3 so far and looks like they will last at least another 3 or 4 days.

That’s impressive.

I've run both the R spec MPSC2's and the GY3R's. I didn't find a lot of difference between the two - the GY is a bit "softer" in feel but the grip is about the same. Can't comment on tire life because I've only done two track days on the GY's so far.

Here's a shot comparing widths: MPSC2 315/30x19 on the left and GY3R 305/30x19 on the right:

yeah, I have 5 or 6 days scheduled between april and may so should know lifespan soon!
Perfect. I ended up putting standard 350 SC2’s on this round, wanting to save my one set of R spec for when it gets a little warmer. As we discussed previously, I’ll be sure to update you late may and let you know how those two compare.

Based on the information that I've read, the GY shown above on post #22 should have better wet performance due to the lateral slits in the area where handling counts (outer shoulder - inside area). Therefore, in the dry the Cup 2 is still superior. It really comes down to what kind of balance are you looking to obtain out of your tires so it will ultimately be a preference of the driver.

those slits are almost 100% gone in under 2 track days on my set.

What @jmn444 said... first thing gone is the outside slits... Long before anything else.

I get 4-5 days at COTA out the 315/30R19s (R-spec rears) when running them square and rotating. Only fast for 2 days (and first day is a bit faster than day 2).

I'd like to learn so forgive me if this seems obvious but I do understand that the outside slits go before anything else. Wouldn't that mean that if rain is in the forecast for that day you have decision to make?

1) Either hope you got enough slits on the outside to be hauling ass in the rain and if you do hope that sun dries the track later in the session before the slits are gone.

or

2) Immediately switch to another wheel set like P4S and know it will be a 6/10 kind of day with rain...?
