Interesting. The 60’s and 70’s retro stuff just doesn’t look right on the new car.
I don't think it looks horrible, it's just bad because I know its not a Mach1. I'd like to see a shaker on an S550 though.

I think that because we have seen such visuals tacked onto mustangs in the past, we tend to think it’s OK to see it now.

I don’t agree. The design is poor and somewhat lazy on those graphics. It’s basically from the 70’s and using same techniques to apply it to the modern car. It doesn’t belong on any new Mustang. It’s time for excellence with these cars. Look at the GT, the 350, the 500, etc. They are really building the details into the car, not tacking on. If there was a Mach 1 model and it looked like that, it would be an absolute dismal failure. Can you imagine the Camaro just slapping on old design stickers like that? It would be a laughingstock. If someone wants todo that to their own car, cool. To each his own. but if Ford did that, it would be a shame.

The California special used side stripes, and now uses script like the 60's cars. The 2003-2004 Mach1 also used rocker stripes similar to the 60's and 70's design. The GT has a fake gas cap, that's about as "tacked on" as you can get.

And no, if that stripe was with a Shaker, and black spoiler on a power bumped GT people would gobble it up. Hell the last Mach1 was little more than a 03-04 cobra top end on a 99-01 bottom end in a GT with an appearance package. They could easily do that in 2021, just use an NA 5.2 from the GT500, put on a gt350 intake and done.

I’m aware. It’s just that people aren’t ok with snake oil anymore. Especially when it comes to aesthetics. I agree on the faux gas cap. But it’s a space filler in that plastic black case void in the back so it’s sonewhat forgivable since it’s minimalist in design and doesn’t look like the pep boys special that mach 1 pic looks like.

The fact "performance SUV's" are a thing tells me people will be just fine with it.

Totally different topic.

Performance SUVs have BEEN a thing. Porsche Cayenne anyone? and classily done.

SUV with power and speed. Nothing wrong with that.

That is a far cry from “cool car with terrible outdated sticker job.”

On the Mach 1 topic; I am modifying my 2020 GT as a Mach 1 tribute car of my 1970 Mach 1. I am taking some cues from the new model but also adding my own flavor. I have installed a Steady performance track suspension, free flowing exhaust, a JLT cold air intake and a tune. I am waiting for CDC to start distributing their shaker for the S550. They told me they will release it in the spring. Here are some pictures of my project. I just wish I can get a hold of the old bullit wheels that would fit the brembos.

The 2020 5.0 is a 302 CI engine, the 1970 Mach 1 is a 5.8 a 351 CI.
How you figure that is not?

I'd rather round down to the classic 302 instead of the displacement of a weak, old Chevy 307. :giggle:
