Hey Guys,

2017 M/T Mustang GT, Only done Cat-Back exhaust. Wondering if it would be worth it at all getting a Lund Flex-Tune without having the Headers done? Would it be worth Upgrading CAI before the tune?

Any idea what kind of gains would be expected?

Thanks in advance legends,

Regards,
Mitch

Yep worth it. CAI not so much. Should pick about 20-25whp tune only

A tune is the best bang for your buck, totally worth it. The stock box breathes very well though. I wouldn't get a CAI unless you just like the sound.

I've got a Lund Flex and E85 tune. I have a 2019 PP1 convertible with 6 speed. My good friend has a 2018 PP1 6 speed convertible. We've driven lots of places and done some races against each other. Here's the facts:

With my Flex tune and running 93 octane, we are nose to nose in almost every race. If someone is slightly ahead it's due to a quicker jump from the rolling start. We've rolled on in second and third gear and there's virtually no difference.

Now, switch to the E85 tune and I win every time. It advances my timing to 30 degrees and you can tell there's 30+ more HP.

I also added 4.09 gears. I love them and it makes the car fun to drive. We did some roll on's in second gear while on Flex tune and guess what? We were nose to nose. He's got the stock 3.73 gears.

I should beat him in some roll on's depending on the rpm we started at. He chose the powerband for his gearing. If we had started at lower rpms he would be farther away from his power band and I would be closer and get a slight advantage.

These are just my real world experiences. Some may disagree and that's fine.

I would find a local tuner who has a dyno and doesn't do cookie cutter tunes.

After watching Lund's like 25-minute dyno video, which was just real and honest with gains on a 6spd and auto, I ordered mine on Monday (nGauge). Stock tune with CAI and exhaust is worth the added power and cost IMO. Also IMO, the current car setup stock doesn't need much more power because grip is already an issue lol. But I don't track or drag.

The only reason to get a tune on a 18 + is to raise the rev limiter or get an E85 tune. The engine is octane limited.

Don't waste your money

I am running their 91-93 tune for the winter and I only have a catback too. My car is an auto so the shift points and firmness is much better. I will go back to E85 in the spring.

Yea I've been tuned. I actually tune my car. 18 + there is very little power increase. Drivability can be improved but it is not worth $400 IMO. 12 to 1 compression does not leave much before detonation takes over. Even with 93 octane.

Get a flex or E85 tune or save your money.

Even your tune god, Lund, will say the same.

Meh, the hp/tq numbers from the video (with CAI and exhaust) with the manual transmission are worth $600. YMMV.

My last car, a turbo accord with Ktuner was also worth the $600. YMMV.

I watched that video and most of the gains came from trans tuning and E85.

If you are happy then it is worth it.
