All I can think about is the size of the fireball had that car gone up. Also the number of injuries and fatalities might have occurred had other cars been on the road with him. In this day and age, stupidity, pure stupidity.

Something fishy about that story. The guy says a "Mustang GT will not go over 159", The Mustang pictured is a base GT. Those are limited to 135 mph.

How did he get it to 159 w/o a tune?

My GT is definitely not limited to 135. They are limited to 155... I've been up there a few times. It'll let you go past the limiter a bit downhill so that's probably how he hit 159.

Damn - that took some balls. Glad to see it was done in a Mustang.

Yeah - I'd be scared shitless driving next to all of that fuel. That said, whatever this guy lacks in brains, he makes up for in balls. Aye Carumba!

Yep. Brock Yates called a halt to the original Cannonballs as he was concerned it was just getting too dangerous with the increase in traffic year on year.

A superb read, highly recommended.

All GT's have the same 155 limiter now, I've tested it ;)

"The Mustang GT will not go any faster than 159 miles per hour," he told Road & Track. "Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying."

What about the Hennessy doing 207 mph ?

I'd like to believe he's referencing Dan Gurney who, along with Brock Yates, completed the very first Cannonball in a Ferrari Daytona. Mr Gurney was quoted as saying "at no time did we exceed 170mph" :)

There's always those people that have to leave some stupid ass comment about a cannonball run.

If you think it's stupid or dangerous, don't click on the thread. We don't need a lecture on if it's dangerous. Sell your mustang, buy a Prius, and give up your man card.

It's not just about a Cannonball Run. It's about reckless driving. Wonder why Mustang's and their owners have such a great reputation? Car's & Coffee. Stupid, dangerous reckless driving.

As far as stupid ass comments are concerned, unless you are the owner of this forum, best that you not tell other people what to do.

I think you can change the limiter with a tune. So I'm guessing that's how they did it.
