True because my 18 on E85 with cat back, tune, and CAI put 490 down at the wheel on it's last dyno run. I know, say what you want, but I'll dig up the thread and y'all that want to can bash the numbers there. It did what it did.

What will a 525 hp stock 5.0 get on E85. That's the excitement. Pushing 600 at the crank?

I'm really surprised Ford didn't decide to name this variant a Boss 302. The "epitome of naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 performance" sure sounds like it should be called a Boss 302. To me, Mach 1 implies straight line speed, so I expected more of a straight line/drag strip oriented vehicle, not a road course car. Same with the GT500. In previous generations, the GT500 was the straight line street bruiser with a lot of power. This generation, it's focus is on road course work. The Mach 1 seems to be headed in that same direction. With the S550 generation, it seems Ford has really moved the Mustang into more of a sports/road course car across all variants. Either way it's shaping up to be an impressive vehicle, especially if 525hp/450tq are the real numbers.

That's right. There is no way Ford would have an E85 dedicated engine. 525 on 93 would be 65 more HP over the stock engine. Think of what Ford could still do with this engine. Valving, camshaft profile, Piston shape/compression, stroke giving more cubic inches, tune. Could be a very cool forged piston engine doing 8,500 RPM.

I mean the coyote is already capable of running E85. They wouldn't need to make a dedicated engine for just E85, they'll just flex fuel it. Literally all these third party tuners do is enable it in the ECU, the car is already built with it, it's just not turned on.

Who's to say Ford won't say "make 526 on E85 // 500 on 91/93? All I'm saying is getting the gen3 coyote to 526 horsepower doesn't require a completely reworked motor. I'm expecting it to have a few bolt ons, that's it.

I think they could not state E85 HP numbers honestly as E85 gets terrible gas mileage. They are already up against the gas guzzler tax.

You forget that E85 is a much cleaner burning fuel (mostly ethanol obviously) then E10 Gasoline which is what that gas guzzler tax is aimed towards reducing the use of.

That being said, I highly doubt that Ford will release power numbers stating E85 as required. If the 525 figure is correct, I am guessing it was done on pump gas. Take a gen 3 and put a higher flowing intake manifold, higher flowing exhaust manifold, and let it rev to 8-8250k and you can likely achieve those numbers.

So me wanting an affordable sports car (what the mustang is supposed to be) is somehow entitlement? Shelby models have always had a premium price tag because of the name. Having a non Shelby Mustang approach the same tier pricing eliminates the “affordability” aspect IMO.

If you want to spend less, just buy one used in a few years. Problem solved.

I’m over here thrilled that there will likely be a nice tech loaded 500hp 2+2 sports car for likely less than $60k and here we have people sad about it because it doesn’t have a sticker that says Shelby to make us feel “special”. What a time we live in.

Even though I have a GT350, my dad owned an original Mach 1 and that nameplate still carries a lot of weight for me.

It's weird to me that other people don't appreciate it, but I guess it is what it is.

If I didn't already have the GT350, I'd be very excited about this car. Heck, I'm already excited about it because we've known for a while that 2020 was the last MY for GT350 anyway, and at least there will be something with a manual transmission to replace it in the lineup.

Did Ford say it'll be manual? Even if not manual only, it should at least be offered as manual. Remember there's no more manual GT500 anymore. And neither a manual C8. Also no manual Lambos, Ferraris, Astons, Mercedes, and most others anymore :(. They're on their way out, unfortunately. In fact, for 2020, a Ford Mustang might be the only car left in the planet with a NA DOHC V8, RWD, and a manual transmission. And with a pushrod V8, maybe only the Challenger. Or did I miss any other?

Challenger and Camaro both use the same family Tremec as the GT350.

If this car is $50,000 and doesn't have basically ALL the GT350 suspension, brakes, coolers, trans, etc. on top of a 500+ hp Coyote, what the hell is Ford thinking? We can already surmise from the test mules that it's not getting the GT350 brakes.

Remember, the MSRP of the base GT350 was 49,999 when it was introduced. And that car had a 5.2L Voodoo. It was missing MagneRide, but had all of the other unique GT350 bits.

I think the sweet spot for this car is 45,000 and if they miss it, it probably won't sell that well. We live in the age of the $60,000 C8 after all.

You bring up a good point. It takes a GT500 to beat the C8 so yea, $50k plus would be crazy IMO when the c8 starts at $59k.
