ON3 Turbo Kit 2018 GT, Worth it?

So I have a 2018 Gt 10 speed that Im looking to do a turbo build on. Until now I was set on a hellion sleeper kit, but after realizing that the On3 top mount kit is almost 2000 less, Im willing to consider my options.

So heres the question: Does anyone have experience with ON3 and their top mount turbo kits for the 18+ year models? Any pros/cons that may help me decide to buy this cheaper kit as opposed to the more expensive hellion sleeper kit? I do not care about the "Cool" factor of the top mount kit, I only care about reliability and efficiency of the product. I would be running upgraded turbos on both setups. I did notice that hellion offers the HLX screamer compressors as well... which seem interesting. If anyone has experience with these let me know how you liked them

My goals: 8-900 Rwhp for now, possibly more later If I get bored of that power range. This car will just be a weekend cruise car and not be tracked (as of yet).

Any help/advice from people who have either kit would be greatly helpful!

Car put down 875/691 at 12.5 psi on E85 with precision 62/66 turbos and has been dead nuts reliable.

install was extremely easy and fitment was fantastic.

alternatively my buddy put a ON3 top mount setup on his 2015 (basically the same vehicle as 2018)

The install was a real headache, wire relocation, bad waste gates out of the box, cheap v band clamps, pipe fitment issues with exhaust leaks.

there are a lot of guys here that will recommend the kit, however you certainly get what you pay for.

after installing both kits within a few months of each other, I would go Hellion (or other higher end manufacturer) before ever considering an 0N3 kit.

keep in mind the ON3 kits can and do make great power if you have the patience to fix all the issues out of the box.

This is exactly what I needed to hear, thank you. One more question for you: how well can you hear the turbos spooling on the sleeper kit compared to the top mount? Is one kit much louder than the other? Always wondered if you can even hear the turbos on the sleeper kit

The Turbos on the sleeper kit are pretty quiet, however I do not have the screamer upgrade offered.

under full throttle you can hear them spool up however.



the Turbos on the top mount are much more audible, however my buddy runs turbo guards instead of air filters and has his exhaust routed out of the front fenders so not a great comparison.

I also agree with the lowered part of this.

my car was lowered on SP080 Springs from BMR and the oil catch can for the Turbo drains was scraping on everything.

I went with the front minimum drop springs and a 305/45/17 Et Street R in the back to get a little more height.

front skinnys coming soon and they will be 28inches tall to keep the front up a little bit.

if your not lowered at all then you have nothing to worry about.

Probably not, the added expense just wasnt worth it to me.

If you absolutely want them to be as loud as possible go for it!

If it was a free upgrade I probably would have gotten it. But the extra cash went to my fuel system.

i'm trying to find out if the sleeper kit will be an issue on a GT350R as it sits a little lower than the non-R.

if anyone can chime in on this. or @HELLION TURBO ?

So we sell both kits, and i'll say the same thing i always tell customers when they ask. If you are a do it yourselfer with fabrication skills, the on3 is a great budget kit. You will almost always run into installation issues that will need correction. I like the kits for the $, but if your paying someone to install. I would def steer towards the hellion.

Example the last on3 we did we fired it up and had an exhaust leak, we had to pull the headers from both sides and belt sand them down for flush fitment. nothing we couldn't handle, but that was basically another full header install which we get $840 on. Thats why we always quote the on3 high.

to give an example for install we get
supercharger - 1200
hellion sleeper - 2000
hellion top mount - 2500
on3 kit - 4-5000.

my installer loves the sleeper kits, easy on and off, flows better than the top mount, and is a great value for what you get.

I was looking into the on3 kit also until a local that has installed both told me he had the hellion kit in and running in less then a weekend and had to take out the on3 kit twice to fix things. In the end labor cost more with the “cheaper kit” that the dude could’ve got the hellion and saved. And both otheR on3 kits I know stated nothing but nightmares. I flip almost daily back and forth between Whipple and Hellion. Leaning more towards hellion.
