Those were your words, not mine. I agreed with some of your points early on, and respected the ones I disagreed with. Now, you come across as a flip-flopper; just my assessment based on YOUR words.I am completely NOT missing the point. That is exactly correct but will vary from country to country and time to time. It is very clear that there will be periods of restrictions of varying severity to manage the case load (I have posted this many times in more detail) I am in no doubt that this will still be going on next winter in the UK from time to time when there are spikes in cases - but it depends on population immunity and duration which is why the antibody test is so crucial for modelling
I also believe the UK's initial position, articulated by you, was irresponsible. You don't put people at risk while waiting on testing capability; you protect them while waiting on testing capability.
Finally, there is no evidence to lead anyone to believe this will be seasonal. Italy is pretty temperate, as is Wuhan for that matter. So, again, unfounded assumptions are dangerous, whether related to a blind assumption of immunity, age, or seasonality. We need to slow the spread so we can study the virus and develop countermeasures for it--be that immunization, treatment, facilities, or all of the above.
