I think my additional backfiring may be a byproduct of having no cats. I've never run the ProFlex system with the stock exhaust so my feedback may not be relevant.

@lightrules: Are you getting full on backfires ? Is it on the up!shift or down-shift. As I said I get pops and burbles, but not booms. Booms are backfires to me. I do not have that, just burbles and pops when I shift to lower gears coming to a stop like 4th to 3rd 3rd to second.

When I was running full out, I would get fire pops on up~shifts. I guess technically you could say that's a backfire ? Skip to 1:28 to see the fire spit. You can also hear my pops and burbles in the vid.

here is what Gray at afd just wrote me...

If you had backfire, especially on decel, E85 would make it worse because of the higher volume of fuel. Backfire comes from unburned fuel getting into your exhaust. It sounds to me like you have an incomplete combustion issue. This would mean the system is working correctly but has uncovered an underlying issue that you did not know you had .That is, you have an underlying issue that running E85 has uncovered. Generallythis would be an issue with spark or spark timing."

have a hard time believing my car has an issue stock because it was running perfectly with beautiful burbling.

lmk what you guys think I should do.

Not sure on this one. My popping and backfiring is similar to Ninjak's. It's not Ford Model T backfiring loud or repetitive.

I talked to Gray as well today. The backfiring on Decel makes sense because the system is putting in more full when it really shouldn't be. There nothing to be done about this, and it shouldn't cause any damage to anything.

Now regarding the leaning issue, Gray said he has had another person with a gt350 experiencing the same thing I am. I think 90% people will overlook it and just keep drivining, but I am anal about my car running in every conceivable way exactly how it should be. There is a definite lag in fueling when getting on the throttle that was not there before the system was installed.

Popping and backfiring really isn't an issue as long as you're not noticing any performance loss or uneven/jerky outputs when you're on the throttle. In fact many of today's sports cars have programmed their cars to do exactly what yours may be doing. My F type SVR sounded like a warzone all the time. The only problem this may pose is to the cat system over time, but my gt350 pops and gargles all the time stock. I have learned how to make it go machine gun style for 5-7 seconds straight in the 4-5k rpm range. Keep an eye on it and if something just doesn't feel right, do what is comfortable for you. I mean, it's your baby. But just offhand, if the only issue you're encountering is popping after you let off the throttle, no engine lights, it's doubtful you have any major issue at this point.

some good and helpful comments and somewhat reassuring. I have noticed some popping when I shift from 2nd to 3rd even casually and not under load. I get it once in awhile not all the time. thanks for the input guys.

just got my car tinted 30 minutes ago, will post pictures at the other thread on what did you do to your GT350 today. hopefully going to wash her all up and take her to the largest cars and coffee in the country tomorrow down in South Orange county.

Nice! I got my proflex in so I went golfing today and drove the car in the high RPM's the entire time there and back to try to burn some of this 91 out of my tank! Have fun at the C&C! You have a beautiful R. Look forward to some more videos of your car. Going to install my commander in the morning and I'll update you all with some observations tomorrow evening.

South Orange County is no where close to the largest Cars and Coffee in the country. I believe it’s the largest weekly Cars and Coffee. Most Cars and coffees are done once a month. I’m not sure how many are done weekly. On the east cost Atlanta and Palm Beach probably have 4-5 times as many cars as South Orange County. The one where I live in Greenville South Carolina usually has 500-1000 Cars show but it’s done 4th Saturday of every month.

Report back with your mileage. Just curious, as I get about a 35% reduction in mileage from 93 to E85 (11.5 to 8.5).

Easy 30% reduction for me when using E85 versus 93

just going by their FB page: https://www.facebook.com/pg/SouthOCCarsAndCoffee/events/

"South OC Cars and Coffee is the US's largest weekly car meet that attracts a mix of 500-1000 hypercars, supercars, exotics, vintage, classic, muscle and sports cars, hot rods, rat rods, pickups, 4x4's and motor cycles. No registration is required and spectators are welcome!"
