It has been confirmed that the Voodoo has inherited changes from the 5.2 Predator Engine Program. The Gen 2 5.2 changes have started with MY2019 GT350 (Voodoo) Production. The Voodoo received these changes to improve commonality between the Voodoo and Predator. (Ultimately to reduce cost instead of producing two variations of parts for the 5.2 engine family.)

Please note that there is no longer a difference between GT350 and GT350R engines as there was before MY2019. All 2019 Voodoo engines are now considered GT350R engines per their data tag.

Please note that the Gen 2 Voodoo still uses the Flat Plane Crank.

How to confirm that you have a Gen 2 Voodoo?

Pop off your driver side coil cover. Your engine data tag should be near the dipstick. If your tag says KA then you have a 2019 Gen 2 Voodoo.

Confirmed Changes

Overall
  • The Gen 2 5.2 can withstand 12 psi of sustained boost (Confirmed by article)
  • Romeo Niche Line engines are now only built by a single builder (Evidenced by 2019 Build Plates)
Recast Block
  • Longer Gen 1 Coyote spec head bolts (Confirmed by article)
  • Additional cylinder bore material surrounding the water jackets (Confirmed by article)
  • Added cast in brace on intake side of cylinder bore (Confirmed by article)
  • "Bay to Bay" Breathing ports reorientated to better equalize block gasses and minimize windage (Confirmed by article)
Recast Cylinder Head
  • Additional material around water jackets for better sealing (Confirmed by article)
  • Stronger valve seat material to handle increased heat (Confirmed by article)
  • 4 Layer MLS head gasket (Confirmed by article)
Valvetrain
  • GT350R Timing Chains (Confirmed by article and data tag)
  • GT350R Lash adjusters (Confirmed by article and data tag)
  • GT350R Cam covers (Confirmed by article and data tag)
  • GT350R VCT mechanisms (Confirmed by article and data tag)
Rotating Assembly
  • Improved I-beam connecting rods (mrbillwot called FP Hotline)
  • Forged crank sprocket (mrbillwot called FP Hotline)
Unconfirmed Changes
  • Copper-lead bearings
  • Resized piston-cooling jets
  • Improved oil pump with larger stronger gerotor gear - FP Hotline said "carryover" (mrbillwot)
  • Upgraded exhaust valve seals
  • Higher exhaust valve spring rate
  • Improved Oil Pan, Oil Pickup, and Windage tray - mrbillwot confirming

Alex, do you know if the changes started with the first production run of the MY 2019 GT350's or if it started on the second production run?

I can't say for sure. However, it looks like it started from the get go of the 2019 Production Run. I say that based on all the engine data tags I've seen for 2019s bearing the same identifiers.

Where would I find the engine data tag and how would I compare it to the engine data tags you found?

Jason, Whats the difference between Job 1 and Job 2?
My understanding is it generally means job 1 is normal production and job 2 is any production after a change in production specs happens.... BUT, the order guide specified that (if i remember correctly) cars built after 2/4/19 were considered job 2. I THINK this is because they removed the painted strip options, but also could have to do with holding production to wait for the new block or any number of reasons... I'm just 99.9% certain that no production of retail 2019 gt350's happened prior to 2/4/19...
