That is the way to go. I was about to recommend that when I saw you already came to the right conclusion. The 2200SL is maxed out quicker than you think. Most people running it are over spinning it. The transmission and clutch will be your biggest headache if you drag race it on a good track.

Are you suggesting that the SL is somehow different in the gearbox? Or is it overtemp with the self contained oil setup?
It will be primarily on the street that I use it but certainly I think it may go "plink" anyway. Or maybe axles.

It will be primarily on the street that I use it but certainly I think it may go "plink" anyway. Or maybe axles.
The 2200SL max rpm is like 52000 where oil fed units are around 62000. The oil slinger is the weak point in 2200SL and multiple guys have had them fail.

So I'm looking at the V3-Si versus the 2200SL. Based on these numbers, does this mean the Vortech unit is more efficient at lower power levels (650-700 whp) while the Paxton is capable of higher numbers? I guess what I'm trying to say is, if I ran both blowers at roughly 650 whp, the Vortech would be the more "efficient" blower?

Why would you go with the smaller blower when they are the same price? You will always want more power eventually. I would do 2200HD. It is a bit more install but no oil to change in the blower and much more capability. Beefcake tried to talk me into a JT when I bought my 2200SL but I was an idiot and bought the 2200SL. It was a great blower but It was about tapped out at 800-850RWHP.

Because I will just drive it on the street. I'm not looking for the highest numbers. 800 rwhp would blow the tires off without street drag tires, then I move into needing a new clutch, driveshaft, halfshafts, and I'm sure the list goes on. Just looking for a mild setup for the street with a nice bump in power. I can already lose the back end easily with E85 while N/A and it's loads of power as is.

I agree but it seems crazy to me to buy a supercharger and not spend a few extra bucks and get the JT or 2200HD. At the very least it will make selling the kit or car easier in the future.

I bought the 2200SL from beefcake and the car ran well but I quickly learned that anything over 3.48 overseen it so I sold it and bought hellion sleeper kit. The car picked up .4 in 1/4 on same boost

I’m with you. I’m pretty much maxed out on the 2200 & 3.6 pulley. It’ll probably run high 9s in full street trim. And I still feel like I left enough on the table. That the motor and transmission should live a long happy life. There always someone faster. And always someone with a bigger dyno number. I can cut a zero light with the best of em. So it’s ok if they have a little more power.

On the subject of the Vortech vs the Paxton(as noted above) i'm thinking it's a bit like Turbo sizing...go too big and you'll have no bottom end?
So that's an important consideration.
Kcc, what were you trying to say as a reason to go with a turbo kit? Your sentence doesn't make sense. Do you mean using a 3.48 pulley or smaller is no good?

So let me confirm...
The 2200SL is 6rib, Self lubricated Helical geared but you can option 8rib and/or straight cut gears.
The 2200HD is 8rib straight off the bat and is engine oiled but helical geared unless you option straight cut?

Begs the question.....At what point do stock lines become a limitation or the rails for that matter? Or is it more to do with restrictions at the fittings is it's a problem at all?
I can’t make comment on the rails (Whipple supply their own) but the lines and fittings seem adequate for pump fuel. I could be wrong though.
