I’m planning on buying either a Paxton\Vortech kit from BeefCake or the new On3 kit here in the next couple weeks. Anyone have any real world experience with either? I would love to do a VMP or Hellion kit but that’s a little out of my budget for this project.
I just bought the Vortech V-3 jt today from Beefcake, Finish Line Performance will be doing the install/Lund Dyno tune/opg gears. I hope to be in a Hellion one day also.

The On3 Gen 2 kit has already been 9.60's with a MT82.
Nice , especially with the MT82 ! I am sure the driver mod was included . Lol
I had the prototype “gen 1 “ on my now kB car . Kit and installation was free (except for fuel stuff and tuning ) since my car was used for R&D so I can’t complain .He did keep the car for almost a year but it was not too bad since I was deployed for a chunk of the time

I did have some minor issues when I finally got it back but it made good power on E85 . I was not a fan of the driving characteristics of aftermarket/ turbo/manual car ( I loved my twin scroll 335 manual back in the day)and when I got an offer to trade in the car with the kit on it for $6k over KBB I was thrilled .....but I had to take it to the track to make at least ONE 1/4 mile pass before the trade . It ran 11.4@136 first pass( I guess I forgot to do the driver mod:ninja: ) . Engine then blew up the second pass:mad: .looked like it was oil starvation based on trashed rod bearing/cam journals and not OPG related .My shop suspected a scavenging pump issue but who knows .
Of course that was the end of my “trade” lol.
Ended up building that motor and slapping on the KB..... then I lost that motor too (cracked in the valley ).

So you are saying the Paxton will be above 700 RWHP on the 3.8 pulley? Are you talking on E85 or race gas? I have this kit on my car with the same tuner you have and a 3.48 pulley and I can tell you at 800 RWP it is about maxed out without overspinning it.
Made 714 on E85; probably has a little more now. I was on tune revision 2 of 4 when I did the dyno day. Yes 3.8 pulley.... Not doubting the mechanical limits of the blower at all

I have a Paxton its a good setup for 700-800rwhp on e85. The install was easy and straight forward so if you have the time and some basic mechanical ability you can install it yourself.

That said if I was doing it again I would have went whipple or twins. Have a buddy with the On3 bottom mount kit and install took a decent amount of additional fab and fitment. Me personally I like the price but would probably spend the extra money and get a different kit.

Like mentioned the 2200SL will not survive anything less than a 3.6 pulley if revving over 7700rpm... Its not if its when it will fail.
Since you made that comment on my IG page, I did a little research and found out
The Max spin on the SL is 52k
3.6 Pulley @7800 RPM =51,480
3.48 Pulley @7800 RPM will be over 1,400.... shifting at 7600 will be fine

so thank you

Hellion makes great stuff but no reason in hell why thier kit or any other kit is almost $9k. Really no reason why blowers are $6k either.
Answer: supply and demand

I'd look into that new Hellion Sleeper kit. They've got incredible customer service, which is a big factor when considering other FI companies.

Was just on the new Paxton website, it states the max RPM of the SL as 60,000 rpm. Interestingly enough, the same as the HD model.

Is this corrrct?

The Common Procharger models it’s wither 62,000 or 65,000. So, it seems plausible.

Was that for the NEW Head unit? I called Vortech and thats the info they gave on my the head unit I have which is SL but I believe the new SL head unit for the 18 is bigger and can handle more.

I bought my Paxton kit from Terry @beefcake and couldn't be happier.

I'm making 783whp on E85 with the stock 3.8" pulley revving out to 8000 rpm. I feel like with the stock pulley I can rev that high safely and not push the limits of the head unit.

I've been thinking of going to a 3.6" pulley soon too.

That pic is from the 2200SL not the heavy duty.

Did they say the SL could do 60,000?

Is the heavy duty self lubricating as well or oil line?

Yeah I asked them 3x he’s said the oil feed which is the HD version does 60k and the SL does 52k ..

Well, their website is wrong then! They need a proof reader perhaps. That would suck blowing up your blower spinning to 60 k like the website says and then finding out you’re over spinning by 8k.

The Procharger can spin to 62 or 65 k depending on the model.
