....The motor has the truck electronics and an A10 mated to it all sorted out. It’s just for a truck and not the Mustang, but most of the work is done there.
If you think it's that simple, then you have no clue what you are talking about.

You under estimate the abilities of a American Redneck.
I'm one of those people.
I have to agree here. I remember swapping a Caddy 500 into a G-Body when everyone looked at us funny when we mentioned it. We had to make the motor mounts. I actually cobbled the headers together by using (2) old 'build your own' header kits and a bunch of (ugly) welding. I've done TPI and modified TBI swaps into old vehicles. I've worked on LSx swaps before you could yank a 5.3 from just about any yard. The tuning part is hard - I will grant you that - but on stockish later model engine transplants, in my lowly opinion, adapting the OEM harness to the transplant vehicle was actually harder, or at least more time consuming. I remember laying out an entire LS1 harness on the living room floor, with a copy of the GM wiring diagrams and a copy of the transplant vehicle's wiring harness. That simply sucked.

Of course that was before you could google "wiring harness pinouts" and get a PDF of everything you needed.

Notice the hood bulge on the GT500?
The height was a problem.
Yes, I know the GT500 had a hood bulge....but it also had a supercharger on top of the taller 5.4/5.8 block. The logic path was about using an NA 5.8 more widely since, according to some, lack of displacement is the weak point of the mod motor.

Hahahahaha.....you said on page 26:

I asked for sources proving it was designed primarily as a FWD engine, not for an example of a FWD mod v8. Sheesh! Try and keep up.

That’s precisely the point. It was a FWD engine!

Could they have done that with the old Windsor V8? Answer no.

There is no way to have packaged that engine and drivetrain into that Lincoln Continental with a motor that was not designed to be FWD from the start. Try to be consistent in your criticisms of space packaging at least. The nightmare of trying to convert a traditional rear wheel drive V8 to FWD in a typical passenger car is insanity in everyomes mind!

The only proof needed was that it was used successfully as a FWD application for several years in a Lincoln. It was never designed for the Mustang. That was a patchwork project after the Probe debacle. The good news for me was that my 1989 5.0 LX stayed relevant way longer than I anticipated. But this shows how the birth of what is now your present motor came about. A quick look at the Continental’s engine bay shows the family resemblance.

This is how all that came to be and is important history in a way. It is interesting in its own way but has little to do with the 7.3 swap, so why I solely have to do a Master’s thesis every time I post something is beyond me. Others can challenge and confirm as they wish. Also, I seem to be the usual target of the “sources” requests and this really is nothing but a disguised attempt to muzzle ideas and opinions that are not inline with yours. This runs contrary to freedom of speech, all are welcome in my world and not just for few so called trained professionals to discuss a subject. The fact is that if I agreed with your statements, you would not be asking for sources I am sure...

I got this same crap from people who did not want bloggers and citizen journalists recognized as legitimate media workers on the international stage. They now are, it’s international policy, even if some don’t quote sources.

As a side note for everyone here.

Engineermike is (I assume) an engineer. So he works like others in the sciences building on work and using the science to do things. But when you move into the creative space (where I am) his attitudes and procedures do nothing but stifle thought and new ideas. In my mind there are no boundaries, nobody is excluded from expression or shamed into silence. I’m pretty serious on that matter. Even on a Mustang forum...

This is not proof! This is just the sort of bold statement, presented as fact, that I would like to see verification. It does not match anything that I've read about the development of the modular v8, nor does it sound right, so I would like to be able to verify the information you are presenting as fact. Maybe I'm wrong, but without posting your sources I have nothing other than the rantings of a self-described irrational person to go by. Sources matter! This is a middle school concept.

BS. When you make a statement as fact, be prepared to supply sources. This is basic, fundamental, and adds credibility. It can also shut down your opposition very quickly. Otherwise, it's just opinion stated as fact, which is not honest.

...The fact is that if I agreed with your statements, you would not be asking for sources I am sure....
If you agreed with me, I wouldn't ask for sources because I already have them. I don't post bold statements of fact unless I have the source. Duh!

There is a popular current definition for people who state things as fact with no source: fake news.

Contradicting yourself AGAIN, I see. One of us thinks a DOHC TiVCT GDI v8 coupled to a 10 speed auto is a new and good idea. The other frowns upon all of these new ideas and wants old designs back. Hmmm.

Honestly, your stereotype of engineers is all wrong. I like innovation and new ideas, as do everyone I work with. However, every new idea has to be vetted and actually be better and practical for it to be worth pursuing. For instance, if the new 7.3 made 550 hp/550 ftlb, fit easily into the engine bay, and was supplied with a plug-n-play harness and ECM, then I would think its worth pursuing. But I don't believe that any of these things will turn out to be true (note my use of word "believe" to differentiate between option and fact), therefore it's a waste of time, money, and has no actual benefits over what is readily available.

Outside of the sciences every creative idea comes into being without sources. Even if I gave you sources you would challenge the worthiness of those sources. So what’s the point as I know where that was headed. In your mind it would never be enough so why bother.

Oh and maybe you are old enough to remember what fake news meant in many countries before the internet...

You stated that the modular v8 was designed and intended for FWD applications. I'm simply asking for your source of this information. I'm starting to think you don't have one. It's almost like someone said it and you latched onto it without questioning because it fits your pre-determined thought pattern. I'm not asking for the source of some "creative idea", as that would be called "inspiration" not a "source". The word "source" does not even apply to that situation because a "creative idea" is not a statement of fact.

I don’t have to have the source if I have the proof!

In this age all you have to do is google what you want and something somewhere will prop up to support your argument, and you will attack the source. A fully functioning modular motor in FWD from a production car for sale to the public is all I needed to show.

The days of propping up an argument because it was written in a book have gone. Anyone can write and publish a book or start a car mag and write complete BS and have it used by others as a “source”. A video of the traverse engine and a running Lincoln Continental is all I need for you...

This thread ought to be pinned by the admins as a perfect example of what not to do on the forum. It is a waste of data storage space. Thank goodness I only wasted my time on reading the first two and last two pages, although still 20 minutes of my life I'll never get back.

A functioning engine in an FWD car DOES NOT prove what you stated, that the modular v8 was "designed and intended for FWD applications". All it proves is that it was made to work, NOT that it was the intent of the original design team. Try to follow the bouncing ball.....if I were to say that the modular V8 was designed and intended for RWD applications, that would directly oppose your statement, correct? Does the modular v8's simple existence in RWD vehicles prove my point any more than the existence of it in FWD proves yours? No! Example: The Dodge v10 was developed for the truck, then adapted for Viper use. Does the simple existence of the v10 in the Viper disprove that it was developed for the truck? No!

you will attack the source...
If the source is crap, then for sure I will. If the source is valid, then I will learn something new.
