That is why I bought the Automotive Authority spare. (I bought the tire and wheel only. About 500 total, 400 for the tire and another 100 for shipping. I ended up finding a used oem jack and lug wrench on ebay for around 40 shipped.) I kept putting it off and putting it off, then one day on my way to work I see a mustang with a left rear flat along side the highway, driver was sitting on the concrete barrier on his phone. i believe I ordered the tire the next day, figured it was worth it not to have to deal with a tow. My other concern was if I went on a road trip and got a flat, with my luck the closest town wouldn't have a tire to fit my car, or if they did have a tire, who knows how much they would charge me for it. Figure that spare tire is well worth the piece of mind.
OK, unless you are really packing for a family of four (4) in a Mustang, here is how you can make the whole spare tire change an absolute piece of cake. 1) Get a $60 aluminum racer's jack from Harbor Freight. 2) Go to Goodwill (or wherever) & get a decent piece of luggage that will accommodate the HF jack. This keeps the jack from damaging the interior trunk panels. 3) While at HF, check out their half inch impacts (w/charger) ... all the better if it has a nice carrying case. If you have more enthusiasm than me for changing tires, a basic tire iron will do. Whenever I travel in the Mustang, I always use the three (3) cases you see in the trunk pic. The green is the actual travel luggage. The two (2) black cases are for the a) HF jack & b) miscellaneous items (gifts, souvenirs, motel towels, cans of Pepsi, etc.). The main reason for using three (3) pieces of luggage is that nothing floats around the trunk area when you are driving more enthusiastically than normal.
Anyway, what you now have is the ability to change a tire in +/- 10 minutes. One more thing ... I would suggest also packing a couple of clean, large, HD plastic bags so you have options as to where to put that dead tire back into the Mustang. And don't think of the HF jack & impact as 'travel only' items. They are handy for doing basic DIY automotive maintenance.

Only one that I know of (and one that I use), is a 19" Hyundai Equus spare. The mounting pattern matches the mustangs, although the bore is a little small, so you'll have to enlarge the hole.
