Correct. The B9 model (2018 forward) is only available in auto (non-DSG). As it my DD, provided it's put into S-mode, it is a good match for this vehicle.

I drive Lucy (my shelby) all year. I'm not a huge fan of a lot that is California, but I have no problem with our weather.

I have Nokians on a couple of vehicles and agree that they are superior to just about everything else, save a couple of other premium winter tires like Blizzaks. I just had four of them mounted on my F-150 on a separate set of wheels.
After living at 8200 feet for the last 25 years, I've found that 75% of winter traction (and safety) is in the tires I use. I have a separate set of wheels/tires for all our vehicles and typically run a winter tire for just 2 seasons.
Tire changing for winter used to be cheap...and my favorite local dealer (Discount Tire) would do it for free if you bought the tires from him. No more. With the advent of TPMS, it was $84 the last time I had it done. That's why it makes sense to keep a set of extra wheels with snows already mounted.

Agree! I drove through "Snowmageddon" on the East Coast back in 2010-2011 with my RWD BMW E34 wagon. Big motor and manual transmission swap, lowered, no traction control or stability control. Nokian Hakkapellitta and I was good through anything. That car was so balanced in the snow (52% rear weight bias helps!).
Nokians are the bomb. In Philly, snow is less frequent but the nor'easters tend to drop 10"-20" at a time. Good deep-snow tires are a must. In Chicagoland, on the west side of the lake, we get a lot more frequent snowfall but it's rarely more than a few inches at a time, and the roads get cleared pretty fast. Also there are very few hills. In these conditions I prefer a winter tire that is biased a bit more to ice/slush grip. The Michelin X-ice is very good (and maintains a decent level of dry-pavement grip). The Nokian RS2 is good for these conditions also.
Currently I have the X-ice on the Fiesta ST (winter daily) and the E39 M5 has Blizzaks (year-round road-tripper). The R is tucked in the garage until March at least.
