I am with those that agree about quality issues with domestics -- but qualify their position when you take into account the cost of repairing Euro Cars.
We've owned a number of Euro Cars over the years...Beemers, Saabs and others and love the cars when they are running well. That said, you'll...
I have Nokians on a couple of vehicles and agree that they are superior to just about everything else, save a couple of other premium winter tires like Blizzaks. I just had four of them mounted on my F-150 on a separate set of wheels.
After living at 8200 feet for the last 25 years, I've found...
Living at 8200 feet and 9 miles up a winding and often-icy canyon road, I gotta have 4wd or AWD on everything I use as as a daily driver. Every snow storm, I see several vehicles slide off the road.
I have a 2014 F-150 4x4, that gets the job done (with 4 Nokian Rotiiva A/Ts). But just in case...
Got my replacement lamps and went out to replace the factory lamps and found something unexpected. The factory lamps came out of the bumper cover exactly as I expected. Interestingly, the one that was "burned out" came out and was not plugged into a tail lamp harness. After digging around...
Yeah -- I think stuff like lamps, filters, wiper blades, etc., are considered "wear items" and not covered.
We'll see how well these replacement lamps hold up.
The bumper to bumper warranty has expired as the car has over 38k miles. The car is still covered by a 12/12 Certified Pre-Owned bumper to bumper warranty BUT -- it has a $100 deductible. My guess is that the flat-rate for lamp replacement is 1/2 hour or about $50. The bulb (from Ford) is $35 so...
I considered that possibility, but something else makes me think this is part of a "dumbing down" process that denies (and discourages) owners of late model cars from performing maintenance of what has traditionally been considered routine. Things like bulb changes or oil changes are intended...
Thanks.
Yep. The bulb assembly housing appears to be held in by two plastic spring clips. You depress one with a small flat-bladed screwdriver and wiggle the assembly out of the hole in the bodywork. Seems simple enough, but I just gotta wonder why in the world Ford would instruct you to take it...
So I noticed yesterday that the 2017 convertible I just bought has a license bulb out. I know they are LEDs, so I stared at it for a couple of minutes and decided to read the owner's manual.
Much to my surprise, the book said words to the effect "These are LED lights, consult dealer." What...
This dealer has renewed my faith in the auto sales universe. Met with their Customer Service manager and explained the situation. She didn't hesitate. She told the Service Adviser to align the car, dispose of the old tires and give me new replacements -- Pirelli P_Zeroes, no less.
I'm...
Exactly the kind of info I was looking for. Sounds like too much camber for the tires -- which tend to have soft sidewalls.
Getting the car aligned Monday, so I'll at least start with everything set up correctly.
Thanks again for the input.
Thanks. I did look at the tires, but didn't crawl under the car or put it up on a 2-post lift so I could get a look at the underside of the car and the inside shoulder of the tires...One dealer we visited actually agreed to put the car up in the air and let me inspect the underside.
When I...
Thanks.
Let me clarify...It's not burnout or drift-type wear. It is restricted to the inside edge of the tires only -- which suggests an alignment problem as opposed to hard use/abuse kinda wear.
Furthermore, I saw this unusual wear pattern in 2 other cars that we test drove. That's what...
Do these cars chew up tires?
I ask because -- After several weeks of shopping for a 2015-2018 convertible, we finally chose a 2017 ecoboost vert with 38k miles. The car had been a rental unit. The higher than normal mileage was typical of former rentals whose 1st owners typically sent them to...
