Can you take a clear photo of both the white label atop the trans as well as the metal tag attached to the side? I have photos of mine and am trying to discern if Ford Parts and Service is adding nomenclature to this since it was sold by FR and not them.

And did you get it from Buyfordracing?

If you have any insight in to what all those numbers mean, I'd surely appreciate the info. (Edit: Nevermind, I found your thread on the tremec over on the other web site, Thanks.)

Yes, I bought from Mike @ DPM (posted on this earlier in this thread.) A buddy of mine bought one from Mike yesterday as we sat and had lunch, after I told him about the deal.

I just noticed my transmission was born on the 4th of July. That has to be a good omen. Freedom from the oppression of limp mode.

Good to see you paid attention to that thread and the subsequent tag breakdown. I don't see any indication on the tag or sticker denoting the trans as having come from FR. The dates won't jibe with that of your vehicle build but other than that it should never raise an eyebrow.

Thanks for documenting them.

What do you guys think? Should I keep the pumpless tranny for future selling value?

Also, I have this little devilish thought running around in my head of changing the ratio on 6th before/if/when the pumper tranny goes in.

The cost of a bolt-in ready TR3160 will most likely never be as low as it is right now. Once production ceases, there may never be a factory variant that fits into place without issue. I sense that any GT500 manual transmission won't be a 3160 if the tq/hp exceed the current GT350's by much. So I don't see buying one and sitting on it (if you have to) as a bad idea at all.

Exactly my thought process. Early last week I had convinced myself to hold off due to some of the aforementioned circumstances, but as the week went on I knew somewhere in the back of my head I was going to buy one. I'm a sucker for a good deal. :)

And just so I'm clear, my preferential outcome of the suit is that Ford and the dealer get their shitty car (awesome drive train, abysmal body and paint) back and I move on to another manufacturer.

I'm from a Ford family, I've been a Ford and Mustang fan (even had a Mercury Capri back in the day, '70 Mach I etc.) all my life. I've bought 4 new fords since 2008. '08 Bullitt Mustang, '13 Raptor, '14 F-150 Platty, '16 GT350. But this experience with Ford, its dealers and products, and its terrible customer service is going to have me looking elsewhere for future purchases.

Admittedly I doubt I'll track my gt350 much but I've been driving it pretty hard on the curvy west virginia roads and I've also had some multi hour stretches down the interstate at 90++ mph and I've yet to hit limp mode. My trans temp will get up to maybe 220 degrees at max. I think the tech package was the right choice for me.

Nothing to add to the cooler convo, but, i'm glad i'm not the only one who feels like this about how Ford and it's dealers network handle things now.

Guess who hasn't seen their gt350 for 2 full months? <<< this guy.

Guess who now has to contend with the dealership and the contractor that ford roadside assistance used to tow my far, while said parties fight over who damaged the car, and thus who is responsible for the $2500 worth of damage done to the car, beyond the wonderfully shitty, leaking, non-pumper trans in the car.

I hope for is reading every single post. I hope they understand that customer service is everything. I hope they understand that they aren't losing sales from just the person who they bone in these scenarios, it's everyone that person knows too.

bah. you suck Ford. you ruined an awesome car for me.

The classic cars that have become valuable were made of metal, windows that operated with a crank, A wire harness with 18 wires in it. A carb that you fix with a can of gumout. They age gracefully, Can be repainted, replated, rewired, rebuilt buy a guy with a tool box.

I fear our new cars are not going to age well at all. Tha massive amount of recyclable plastic will sag, distort, fall apart, Where do we go for parts in 7-8 years. I'm sure autozone will have a ecu for a air conditioned seat ( it has two) in a '16 shelby ?
A friend of mine (who bought a '16 GT/CS this summer) and I had a similar conversation last week....

This past weekend I put a new power steering pump in one of my old cars, cost $100 for the pump and I had it swapped out inside an hour, counting beers, with a small handful of basic wrenches. And speaking of wiring harnesses, the car in question has FIVE, count 'em, FIVE fuses in the fuse block. I love working on this stuff, and general maintenance parts are cheap and plentiful.

I've all but given up on going to a GT350 from my bulletproof GT after all the ADM BS plus the troubles many here have been having, given the bump in price. I'd like to think I'd hang onto my GT (or the GT350 I haven't and probably won't buy), but thoughts of what the car might become ten years down the road makes me wonder about dumping it once the warranty is up and buy another old car since prices are down somewhat....

Back to your scheduled programming....

Off topic... maybe you can make it again- the last Track Night in America for this year at PBIR is next Tues 9/27. I'll be there with my FoRS. Use "summerfinale" as a $25 discount code on registration... so $125 for a track day, hard to beat.

See you there!

It looks as if Ford isn't as aware of this issue as they should be. Apparently they only had TWO Track Pack transmissions earmarked for Ford Racing. Three were ordered, two were sold. The gentleman that ordered the third didn't get one (Steve's friend, I believe) but should be first in line. So the transmissions are already on backorder. Furthermore, there is an apparent concern that the transmissions aren't going into GT350's such that the listing was pulled. Ford Racing is going to require a VIN be provided when an order is submitted.

Since both transmissions WERE sold to GT350 owners I think it obvious that Ford Racing may not be as up to speed as many thought they were. Or they didn't think that many would actually buy a complete transmission from them.
