I'm not going to quibble over the numbers. But either way, using your $4355 or my $5255. It's a pocket full of money either way! I'm pretty sure GM charges destination also. But look up the track pack suspension. It's a better suspension than the performance Pack. No need to buy a PP car then upgrade the suspension. That's saving alone should get you a nice set of tires.
The 1ss $37900 is with destination. That track package price is just suspension, what are you going to do about brakes and tires with wheels? Your way past 1ss price after that. Then you need to install, then get new alignment.

But your also going to have a car that's going to out perform the Camaro. Isn't that the rally cry of the GM guys today?:D

I don't know. Is there any before and after data showing how it does compared to the PP?

Just independent. No motor trend or anything like that. That I'm aware of anyway. Same for the power pack. That's not Available til October. You would have to look to guys using the GT350 intake, TB, etc. to see how the power package will perform.

They are both great cars and I have driven them both. I have heard a number of people say they think the new Camaro is a smidge better.

It makes me start thinking I am Ray Charles in the Blues Brothers. When I tested the cars back to back on the track, I was just able to make the Mustang dance better.

Guess it just depends on who is playing the organ.

I almost feel they should be locked. I like looking at them for the initial information put out. They just become a dark and cyclic place once people start posting.

Seeing as how there is a forum devoted to comparing the Mustang to other cars, the idea that this forum can't handle a comparison discussion against its primary rival, is pretty sad.

Look, guys. There are objective comparisons and subjective comparisons. It's entirely possible and totally fine to pick a car on purely subjective grounds. For example, I have about 300,000 Miata miles under my belt (between two cars)...objectively unremarkable performance but subjectively fantastic car.

I opted to make my second Miata better in objective measures with coil-overs, roll bar, the stickiest street tires that I could find and a Flyin Miata turbo kit. While that car was easily faster than my 3v Mustang GT and went around corners like a maniac, it lost the magic and simplicity of my first Miata.

Many of you guys (including me) have driven both the Mustang and the Camaro and didn't opt for the Camaro...which, price not withstanding, is not better on really any objective grounds. That's perfectly valid.

For me, seeing what can be achieved in this class, made me just want to hold off and see if Ford can catch up and have the best of both worlds.

Just picking the faster/quicker car isn't the deciding factor for me...but when one drives better in every single goddamn measure...yet is not as appealing to look at, to sit in, etc...it puts me in a bind.

That's where I am. You guys who own S550 Mustangs know how much power the Coyote is capable of making. You don't need to lose any sleep. I'm personally just not interested in trying to patch a deficit with another car. It hasn't worked for me in the past and it cost a ton of cash.

Which track did you test them? SS vs GTPP?

Sounds like you didn't change tires on the camaro and put 87 octane gas in the Mustang.

You need to get over this...the rest of us certainly have. Whatever car you purchase will be outdated compared to it's competitors within 2 years. If you don't like it, lease your vehicles.

I agree, if you're waiting on the best car to be built you'll never buy any car because the better car is always a year or two away.
