Looks like we equaled them??? Not surprised. Someone will run 11.8-11.9 in a Mustang stock once it gets in the hands of the hardcore racers. To bad the Chevys have been doing it for two years. So Ford just caught the competition.

Given that the alpha platform as far as performance goes is superior to the s550, I am okay with that. 3.9 to 60 and 12 sec flat qt mile runs are very respectable numbers. Even if the 2019 Camaro squeaks out a few more tenths, is anyone going to be disappointed with these numbers?

Oh I'm ok with it also. would be nice if Ford would shoot for the performance win. I guess since they are already outselling everyone. They just need to keep the performance close. Chevy will up their game next year with the refresh.

Let the GTs get broken in. Then let's see where they fall.

I'll call it now and say that the new GT will hit 11.7 @ 120 MPH.

The LMR run was pretty amazing as it is. But when customers start getting seat time in and dialing in their symbiosis with the car, we start seeing different tracks, different conditions, etc., we are going to see the potential.

I'll revisit in January to see how well this prediction fared.

True. Keep in mind that the mustang is still heavy as hell, i am assuming it gained a little more weight with the new stuff. Now imagine Ford tweaks this engine and puts it in an all aluminum lighter version and call it S650!!!

There's plenty left in her, first day out.

Better weather, DA, better 60ft etc. Should be able to get a little faster.

Hopefully thats on 93 octane, I know the dyno numbers were on 93.

I am not sure how much more you could ask from the 18' in terms of powertrain performance. Ford has and is doing alot more with less displacement.

The 10spd is a nice touch but that will be negated in the future aswell.

The chassis is fine. The GT350RC and the GT4 have no issue putting the hurt down. All it really needs is some weight reduction. And we won't see anything major to S650.

Fortunately the S550 is very weight efficient given it's material use. If the S550 was aluminum where the Alpha Camaro was from they get go we wouldn't be having any of these conversations, and the 18' would be the nail in the coffin.

Everyone should be worried about FCA being able to package a 392 in a Guilia. They can't as of now, but they may be more willing to do a tearup now that it performed good across the board in IIHS crash tests, which is something the L cars struggled with.

I agree, keep in mind I wasn't bashing the s550. Just pointing out the obvious, while yes if it was aluminum like the alpha then I agree different game, but u work with the hand u were dealt not the hand u want. So far Ford is making giant powertrain improvements to assist the lessor chassis. Can't wait to see the s650 chassis with this powertrain.

Also I read that the Giulia platform is not going to be used for the challenger and charger anymore but instead they r going to use the Maserati guibli (can't spell) platform instead.

I don't think you where bashing. I am just talking.

They have kicked the L car replacement down the road so many times it's not funny.

I am not sure if it is or isn't going to the Ghilbli or Guilia, the last time I talked to some people doing advanced work for L car, they still really wanted to use Guilia based on it's weight.

"Dodge" may have created there own worst nightmare. The brother hood of muscle, and the emphasis on muscle car and straight line performance has nothing to do with the development teams desire. They really just want to build the best car they can. The whole muscle car thing is almost entirely brand.

So they do have there PR branding work cut out for them is the use a Alpha platform with no V8. I will say this their new 6 cylinder looks very promising.

To bring us back on topic I do think it is a good indication that some of the first times out of the gate for the 18 are in the in the top 25% of the Camaro's best.

The Coyote is all aluminum already, and all aluminum won't save a ton of weight, maybe an extra 25lbs since a good amount of the car is already aluminum.

The weight comes from lower cost yet heavier components.

3850 for a n/a Mustang is ridiculous. Where did they add 100lbs of weight to a base model?

What? was the 3850lb mustang a 300A package? LOL, a premium will definitely be over 3900lb. Unless ford changed their package numbering convention, the 300a is the cloth interior base model car.

Now I cant wait till the S650 to come out... :headbonk:

Yeah, no heated/cooled leather seats, no fancy trims around the interior, no digital dash or premium audio, etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if a fully loaded premium GT is clipping 4000 lbs.

Not sure if it was posted before, but the LMR 2018 Mustang GT weighed in at 3,860lbs on CAT scales with a full tank of gas and no passengers.
