So the same dealer that didn't properly attach my tray after my oil change did this...no wonder I had heavy road. Noise and squirmy handling!!

I try to do my own work as much as I can because I trust myself more than the stealership.

New tires mounted? Seems like every time I get new tires the wheel jockey over inflates them.

most tires are recommended from 34-40psi.

I don't see a problem.

Probably didn't check pressure during PDI. Mine came at 38PSI as well. Remember the pressure sensor reads about 2 psi higher.

Is that true? I'll have to keep that in mind if that's the case.

Mine are at about 40 PSI right now since I just got new tires. Definitely going to deflate them a bit.

Factually, tires don't recommend tire pressures, they simply state the max cold tire pressure on the sidewall in almost all cases.

Recommended tires pressures come from the vehicle manufacturer, and that is determined based on data provided to the tire manufacturer with data provided from the vehicle manufacturer, such as the vehicles weight, desired handling and ride characteristics, along with the vehicles maximum designed load carrying capacity.

While tire pressures at 41psi are not outside of the the max cold tire pressure, it will absolutely negatively affect the ride and handling. In fact, high cold tire pressures without a corresponding load in the vehicle will cause the tire to take arc in the middle of the tires tread (think football) causing the middle of the tire to take the majority of the vehicles load, decreasing the contact patch, causing increased wear down the middle, and a loose handling affect from the reduced contact patch and overly stiff tire from too much pressure, as well as a overall harsh ride.

Myself, I prefer running my tires between 31psi to 33psi cold, with the front about 1psi greater than the rear. This seems to give me the best handling, ride, and overall wear across the tire.

I was in a phase, when I was driving a Focus and gas prices were high, of tracking my actual car operating expenses. Everything related to my car was booked. Every gas receipt was entered with number of gallons, price per gallon and miles traveled. I was even tracking mileage by gas station. My buddy owned the local Sunoco at the time. He hated my charts.

I did track the tire pressure as well. Tires WAY over inflated to the point of feeling like you are driving on four basket balls, absolutely get the best mileage. Not a nice way to drive, but if you need to eek out all the miles possible, inflate the tires as far as you feel comfortable doing.

Did you look at that before or after driving? Because if the tires are hot its normal for pressure to raise while hot.

Tire pressures will not go up to 41psi if the base cold-tire-pressure was correctly set to 32psi. Normal increase during driving averages +2-3psi depending on several factors, and then roughly +1psi for every +10F ambient temperature increase.

Without the OP knowing exactly what the tire pressure was before visiting the dealership, or what the ambient/outside temperature was when the tires were set to some specific pressure, it's hard to figure out the variables.

It is entirely possible that the tires were set to 32psi when the outside temp was 20F, and the pressures shown in the screenshot were after period of highway driving with an outside temperature of 80F, which means the pressure would have gone up by 6psi simply from temperature alone, and then another 2-3 psi after driving, accounting for a tire pressure of 41psi, or +9psi over what the cold tire pressures should be.

Don't know about you guys, but I adjust my pressure anytime there is a significant temp change, and anytime I start to see a drop in pressure, which usually drop 1psi per month.

just reset them to what you want and move on with life. as with anything else in this world, no one cares about your stuff as much as you do. just know that, and you won't be creating threads over spilled milk, just wipe it up.

stuff like this is going to keep happening, I am not condoning it, but it doesn't matter at the end of the day.

My sensors read exactly what the tire pressures are. Verified with a very accurate, liquid filled gauge.

Thanks that was what was throwing me. My 2016 GT isn't here yet and I didn't know the recommended pressure. My 2013 Cadillac calls for 40 psi so wasn't getting the point.
