So this may take a minute. Earlier this year I noticed a slight whine from the rear-end at hwy speed on my 2015 GT PP1 manual with a 3.73 gear and stock powertrain. I have owned this car for 6 yrs and it was purchased from the dealer in question. It had 21k on it and currently has approx. 55k. Obviously not my daily. The car was sold with à lifetime powertrain warranty.
I get the car up in the air to investigate and noticed that at some point, this car had évidence of q pinion seal leak. It was dry around the seal but the stain was evident. I put on my
hat and surmised that this could be the source of the noise. I drop it off for a diagnosis and 4 days later, I get the call. They can't find the source of my reported noise but am very low on gear oil. I had already done the finger check and was aware. They did not detect a leak. I was like wait, what? They were unable to explain what happened to the gear oil. Never did. Maybe it was previously repaired they said. I have the complete history of the car that I got from the first owner. I am the second. No repairs made. I wasn't happy with the non answer so I had a heated discussion with the service manager who finally agreed to service the rear ( It was almost due anyway) and agree to cover any future issues. Stay tuned for part 2!!!!
