CAFE standards are getting draconian and we are being forced into E15 which will further reduce fuel mileage.

Here in the armpit of the Chicago area no one moves far enough to achieve the upper limits of CAFE. Millions of humans trapped in a tin can fighting one stop light after another.
I totally get using real gasoline and the MPG gain but around this area we’re all stuck bumper to bumper and typically an hour to move 15 to 20 miles. So the brain trust continues adding E to gas in the name of cleaner tailpipe efforts.

It's like an EV, it just moves the pollution to another place.

Maybe the traffic engineers could time the stop lights so there is not as severe traffic jams.

They did this in Covington, they timed all the lights so if you drove the speed limit you would hit all green.

Not sure if this is true or not but I have heard rumors that in many areas they time the lights to stop traffic so the drivers have time to look at the stores and such, then stop to buy things.

The CAFE standards are not set by stop and go traffic, but are the avg of the fleet. They are making the MPG requirements going up and at the same time making the fuel less efficient. It's almost like they want to get rid of gas engines in cars..........

We have that and open road tolling.
Both are an improvement but the volume of traffic is just staggering anymore. It’s a mess when the traffic light sequence is disrupted.

Oklahoma. E85 is easy to find and all gas stations have 3 grades of 100% pure gasoline but nobody has anything higher than 91 octane.

I race a boat and one rule is no alcohol. It is tested at every event. We learned the hard way, here in Louisiana (check your area) Non Ethanol fuel can have up to 10% ethanol in it. That drove most to 100 AV Gas.

My biggest issue with ethanol mandated gas is the loss of MPG and the loss of energy. It takes more energy to produce E10 than we get from it, and now they are trying to force E15.

It is simply welfare for farmers.

On one hand I love the ethanol push as it gives us e85 which is great for modified cars, but on the other hand ethanol doesn’t make much sense from the little research I have done.

From my research we use more energy to grow the crops, process the corn, and transport the fuel than benefits we get from burning it instead of gasoline.

Seems like one of those things that surface level sounds good (make natural ethanol that burns super clean), but once you dig into it it’s a lot more complicated and not as beneficial

Yep I feel like corn is not the best choice, but I’m not a plant expert. I’m sure they are specifically growing corn for the fuel. I wonder why they aren’t growing another plant that is high in starch or sugar? Maybe corn makes the most sense.

No, only because of the advantages of alcohol. We empty the tanks after every heat anyway. So no worries for water

OKC. Almost every On Cue sells it and they’re all over the metro. Yeah, Lawton America maybe a different story. Spent a month there one weekend. Cannot recommend. Do love the sound of freedom from Ft Sill range however! BOOM!
