This is pretty hard to explain but I keep hearing an extremely unusual sound at random times (it’s not consistent) only when slowly accelerating, like driving through a stores parking lot, or calmly accelerating from a Stop sign. I even began hearing it when the vehicle is not in motion. Once I go from P to D the sound will begin.

This sound is like a clunking/grinding sound and it seems to come from directly under me, it’s so intense at times that I can feel it through the floor of the car and through my seats.

Something to note, I recently got a ton of BMR IRS support parts, sway bars, new bushings, Air suspension all kinds of suspension goodies. I only noticed this sound after the install, I had it checked out again and it continued.

Could is coincidentally be a transmission issue?

Lots of people experience new noises and vibrations after upgrading suspension parts. Particularly bushings. It could just be your new normal.

thanks for your response! Yes I’ve heard of NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) but I didn’t think it would be this intense. I can literally feel it in my seat, and it’s so loud during slow movement only. Have you experienced something like that?

I think you kinda answered your own question. Right after the upgrades it started.
yes but I can’t determine if it’s simply NVH, an error during installation, or coincidence that my transmission is dying. It’s an extremely intense sound and had all the parts double checked so I’m really confused.

so it happened the day you did the upgrades? If yes, then it s not the trans unless someone was messing with test drives after the install? Unless you did the upgrades?

Nope, not personally. I have no desire to modify the suspension, handling or engine in my car. It serves my purpose perfectly in its stock form. I have been on here for several years though and your description is nearly identical to many, many posts I've seen, which is what prompted my comment.

this happened shortly after the installation. It’s a pretty crazy scenario. Essentially I hit a pothole, fucked up some parts and went all out on my suspension, my main mechanic guy was not available for a while so I took it to a local shop. The local shop kept my car for over 1 month and shortly after that I began hearing it, along with tons of other sounds. My main mechanic was finally available and inspected as much as he could and found nearly everything that was installed was totally loose. Once he did it right, the car felt so much better except that one noise that I heard come up again later that evening.

drive shaft angle? On air means you can drop that sucker way beyond crazy. Loose (or bound up) trans support(s)?

Go over everything! I have on my own like 3 times. Just so many mounting points.

SOLVED: part of the axel-back was rubbing on base of the drivers side suspension. Can’t believe the unusual sounds it was making.
