Here too. I thought that there are actually gov't subsidies that help pay for the ethanol that they put in gasoline. Otherwise the prices would be even higher. Like most Green New Deal stuff, without the govt spending our tax dollars to help pay for it, the economy couldn't afford it.

Just think about all the diesel fuel being burned plowing, planting, cultivating, harvesting and transporting the corn just so we can dilute our gas by 10%.

Most of these tractors have no pollution controls on them.

The fertilizer put on the corn is mostly from oil too. I suppose the insecticides are also petroleum based.

But it is GREEN I tell you, and you better believe it.

Edit I also didn't mention all the C02 during the distillation process or the fuel for it.

If you run it in your car you will get a MPG boost. Mine gets 20% increase on straight gas.

I prefer e85 with a 80% decrease in mpg lol

Better gas mileage for one.

Less water in the fuel too. Ethanol is always at least 5% water, and often much more, and tends to absorb water quickly. The water corrodes the fuel storage and delivery system. Modern cars are designed to minimize this, but less alcohol is the best prevention.

My biggest issue with ethanol mandated gas is the loss of MPG and the loss of energy. It takes more energy to produce E10 than we get from it, and now they are trying to force E15.

It is simply welfare for farmers.

if I had access to 93 or 94 I would swap tunes for it because the fuel mileage is so bad with E but all I have locally is 91. Seems were E85 is common, 93 is impossible to find and vice versa. No where I know, has both.

Oklahoma. E85 is easy to find and all gas stations have 3 grades of 100% pure gasoline but nobody has anything higher than 91 octane.

E85 is a stand alone fuel, nothing wrong with it. E10 and now E15 is just a feel good move that does not deliver on it's intended purpose.

It boggles my mind. CAFE standards are getting draconian and we are being forced into E15 which will further reduce fuel mileage.

If we had true reporting we the people would vote away these stupid mandates.
