Did he take out a telephone pole? Will his insurance pay for the damages if that's the case?
Yes it was my brother. He had aftermarket suspension and e85. Pushing 850 to the wheels. No tickets though. But his insurance will have to pay for that wall and power pole. He was really lucky. I think we are going to tow it to my house so I can take everything off. We will see with the driveshaft and axels they are both dss 1400hp ones. The tow truck driver said that he was surprised they did not break.

He said he went to give the car a little gas and the car did not go anywhere then he gave it some more then the car took him for a ride. He was fortunate that there was no pedestrian's around and he was able to walk away. Not sure about the pole but he will find out soon

Not sure but isn't that what insurance is for. Accident's.

Come one guys . Cut his “brother” some slack.
He must be feeling bad enough already .

These high powered cars do need to be treated with respect on the street .

What tires ?
If they were street non drag radials , that may be the biggest culprit .
850 whp and non drag radial don’t mix very well “giving it a little gas” from low speeds means zero traction
May be from a roll but not from a dig

I had a close call a few winters ago when I “forgot” I still had my winter tires on my whipple 18 (was so excited it was spring and 50* ) and went WOT joining a freeway from a ramp.
Car spun out and did several 360 ‘s before it ended up in ditch on the side of the road . It was heading towards the center barrier and I had braced for impact but it missed by a hair and spun the opposite direction .(it all seemed like slow motion)
Only stopped spinning when it spun of the road .
Not a scratch on the car .
I still have “PTSD” from the experience.

He had nitto drag radials 305/35r20's on the car. But a car with that kind of power one little thing will cause the tires to spin. He just lost it.

Yeah . Shit happens and real sorry for his loss.
I am glad no one else was involved and that he is okay which is what really matters at the end of the day . Cars and parts can be replaced .

I was just lucky that day(or someone was looking out for me ).
I think I was even stupid enough to have turned my advance trac off as I was getting logs .
Another reason I am now afraid to get logs on the street even with my drag radials and clear roads .

Hope you can salvage something .

Glad everyone who witnessed is fine. I'm not poking fun. Just trying to make light of it. What's done is done. I've had my share of wild rides where it tried to get away. Lucky my foot knows when to tell my knee to back off, or just clutch in the left side. Auto will get away from you these days, and a manual gives more outs than speed in these kinds of situations. This thread needed some comic relief, and I'm your sidekick. Can't find it on youtube yet but there had to have been a coffee shop around the corner... :sunglasses:

From experience: if he had the car insured with the modifications included in its value then he can negotiate with the insurance for lower value payout and take his parts. If it was insured without mods considered in value but with the insurance notified that it was modified then they are his parts and the insurance has no claim. If the insurance didn’t know the car was heavily modified then he has much bigger issues looming than whether he gets to keep his super charger. They may just deny his claim.

How long did he have this HP beast before the crash? A car with that much power needs to be learned by the pilot before pushing the envolop or the beast will bite. Pretty much goes with any high performance machine.

Yes, he was lucky, and a hard lesson learned. If anyone would have been unfortunately hurt, it would have been magnified by 10. Good weather is around the corner, so everyone think before you smash the go pedal.

This all day. Helping a friend buy his first fun car. He’s younger and buying an 04 gt. I keep reminding him that while it has half as much power as mine that it has plenty of power to kill him and that he’s coming from a 4 cylinder truck. To learn the vehicle before he gets on it. That’s a hundred times more so with a beast like this.

He may of had this power for maybe only 3 months. Before that he was 692 with just the whipple stage 2 kit. Insurance company will not allow him to take off the stuff. Pretty shitty

Are they going to give him any credit for the SC since they are keeping it? Seems like they should only want the stock parts if thats what they are reimbursing him for. I do know that1320chick on youtube bought a totaled whippled 18 gt though, it had the whipple still on it.
