She would not get sick as much if she looked at the horizon more. Burying her face in her phone is probably the reason she's getting sick...
Or let her drive.

Yeah, the inner ear senses movement, and if the eyes don't see matching movement, the conflicting data to the brain manifests as motion sickness. So you should try to watch the horizon and then the ear and eyes get the same input and all is well. At least, that's what they told me when I was a USAF flight engineer.

This video addresses just that point 30 seconds in.

I've tried to teach her stick but she just can't get it
Rookie. All I had to do was disconnect the battery in her car and tell her there was a sale at her favorite store.

Speaking of wives. My wife was not real happy about my purchase. I would be a B- on that list. And then when I told her it was a summer car only, she asked me why anyone would buy a car that you can't drive all year round. I told her it was those damn summer tires that came with it. This is the woman that calls my 68 GT350 "loud & obnoxious" (which it is) and environmentally unfriendly.
Driving a 1968 Mustang is essentially recycling. Way more energy goes into making a new car than is wasted by an older car.

Your old GT350 is doing the environment a huge favor.

[Rabbit Hole] You know, I first heard the energy usage concept in elementary school back in the 70's - even back then, the claim was that it took more energy to make a car than it would consume during its life cycle. I'm sure that gap is only widening as cars become more efficient AND more complex. With this reminder, I decided to google it... I think it's still true that driving an old car uses less energy than it takes to make a new car - but only if you don't drive it very much. However, it doesn't take NEARLY as much energy to make a car as I assumed based on my elementary school lesson. The Argonne National Labs completed a study back in 2010
https://greet.es.anl.gov/files/vehicle_and_components_manufacturing
that showed only about 4% of a vehicle's total energy usage is spent on manufacturing & assembly, and that includes everything from gathering raw materials to forging, stamping, paint... My 68 Plymouth Fury only gets about 12mpg, but it hasn't driven 1,000 miles since 1986, and that's a lot less energy used than it took to make my EBPP. I used enough gas to exceed the manufacturing energy in 6 months... [/Rabbit Hole]

You shouldn't have to ask for permission or forgiveness. If you got the money or it's the new daily you should just tell her your intensions and then go get it. Women today are very controlling and I doubt they get permission for spending money on vehicles or major purchases.
if your wife informed you she was going to go out and spend 50k on a new set of furniture without telling you, or buy herself a new car, say a nice SUV, sporty car, etc for herself, would you be as understanding as you want her to be with you?

I would. But my wifes an accountant. If she spends money I trust we can afford it.

lol.. my wife has bought 3 jeep wranglers in a row. She only ever looked at the first one. The second and third she just called the dealership and told them the color, transmission, soft top, wheel color and it had to have the power package. That is what irritated me about her purchases. No clue what she was getting. When she got the 18 JL.. I asked her if it was a JK or JL.. her answer "Its red"

When I got my 18 GT my 02 GT was having some issues and I told her I was taking it to the dealership to get fixed.. I came home in a new one. She couldn't really blame me. Sticker was 38, I got 3k for my old car and I drove the new car off the lot for 24k+ttl etc (Being the last 2018 on the lot with practically no options but the 10r80, 3.55 diff and full size spare probably helped). I wished I had gotten at least the 301a package though... 300a is meh.

She wasn't pleased, but the first time I took her to dinner in it I could see her grinning in the windows reflection as I entered the freeway rather spiritedly.

Going to the 19 GT from a 09 Mini Cooper JCW. Mini is heavily modded and she never gets in it so I just drive it alone M-F and on solo weekend runs. The stang should be about the same usage but I did let her pick the color (Ruby Red). I wont be lowering this one either so maybe she'll go on weekend drives with me.

I did state you should still tell her, just don't let her debate it and influence your purchase. Basically tell her your buying a Mustang and then proceed to buy one.

She's sleeping beside me so I'll tell you my story. I'm 30, and we celebrated our 11 years together. We bought a brand new Mazda3 in 2008. Soon enough, our first kid arrived and it became the family car and I earned her old Kia Rio. Then a second kid, and finally a third one. At that point, I had to get a minivan. I wanted to change my MZ3, but with kids, the payment of the minivan and putting money aside to get a house, there wasn't room for another cashout. And with 3 kids, we thaught that it would be better if she stayed home to take care of them than just make them grow at the daycare. Last summer, wedding time! I rented a 15 Ecoboost for 3 days. Man I had a great weekend. My youngest kid is starting school in september and my wife started a new job. So in February, she told me it was time to think about me. She would prefer I'd get a car to make it A to B, but she understands that my car is a part of me. Now waiting on my 19 Ecoboost PP, AE, 101A, Magneride in NFG. I ordered it the exact way I wanted. No excuses. I'm not the kind who likes V8 nor converts and I didn't like all the goodies on the Premium. Yes it's a base Ecoboost, but for me it's my dream car. We're already planning on repeting our wedding weekend but with my car this time.

Great story!! It's never JUST and ecoboost or V6, it's a mustang. And it's exactly what you want, good for you! And gratz on 11 years!

My wife drove the Mustang for the first time today. She took it to work while I'm taking hers in for service. The Mustang is our first car with push button start. After showing her how to adjust the seat, I reminded her she has to have her foot on the brake when starting the car and she left. Five minutes later she called. She said, "You told me how to start the car, but how do I turn it off?" Needless to say I was quite amused, but after I hung up it occurred to me that maybe her question wasn't as ridiculous as I first thought. I did make this mod some time ago. :)

2018 GT PP1 - gone
Long time reader first time posting.

Wife n I have been talking about a mustang since the coyote was released. The throw back style of the 197 also caught our eyes. The biggest thing was the thought of rev’ing a mustang past 5500 rpm was intoxicating to me and she grew up with chevys but had a love affair with first gen fastback mustangs. Years passed and the serious car discussions had turned into the “someday conversation”. Careers, house, kids etc it had become an afterthought. Then one day (December 2018) we realized we didn’t have to wait any longer. Being mustang fans we were searching for a first gen as it was always a dream to have that body style and throw a high horsepower motor into it (we were looking at how to stuff a coyote in one of course). We found a couple of candidates for the transplant, but reconsidered the proposition. Doing the swap and some customization would’ve brought us a car that would ultimately make us happy on the weekends once the build was complete, but what about now?! Daily drivability? Creature comforts? (wife is a service Manager for MB so those are a must, OK OK those are for me too). We opened ourselves up to late model mustangs, and we were able to find a car with the options that we needed (similar set up to what the gen 1 would’ve turned into). Leather, black on black, pp1 and three pedals. We also got an option on the car that we didn’t expect... a cold start tick :), we got a warranty so we’re gonnna send it. Since it was the end of the year there were deals to be had. We were able to strike a deal from a local dealer that we couldn’t pass up. Now a few thousand miles in, the wife and I have discussions over who gets to take the beast to redline. She even takes part in the mod descisions. We’ve got a Frankenstein exhaust system getting ready to be installed and looking at suspension next then a full matte black wrap or paint job. No plans for motor work. Ultimately no regrets on not building a first gen but that still isn’t out of the question... that’s a discussion for another day. We’re extremly happy with everything about this car, and can’t wait to take a drive in it again when the rain clears up tomorrow.
