What is everyone doing who stores their Mustang over the winter to prevent flat spots?

Do as Barrel says, or jack the weight off the tires and store it on jack stands.

Driving it on nicer days.
Best answer I can think of. ;)

But... Though expensive, take a look at these:

Since I haven't bought any of them yet (a little too expensive for molded plastic, I think), I have parked my cars on several layers of old carpet scraps. Seems to help. :)

Why do we have to store our Mustangs for winter?

Are they not able to take cold weather?

I know, I know, 40, 45 degrees at night gets a bit chilly.

That's why we have car covers ;)

I've never understood that. Who has that kind of money to pay for, insure and then store a FORD all Winter? Why not drive it? Even in NH, put 3 tubs of kitty litter in the trunk, some good snow tires and there you go.
Cops drove rear wheel drive crown Vic's excluseivly until recent times in most northern states every Winter.

It's more about not wanting to get road salt/winter grime all over your weekend toy. Especially since it could be a while before temps get above freezing to wash it.

Only way I could have a weekend toy is with a Ford. Couldn't afford to store a Lamborghini all winter [emoji3]

I use a battery tender to keep the battery fully charged, change the oil, fill the gas tank, and add Stabil to the gas and let it sit.

What you don't want to do is start it occasionally and let it idle. This creates condensation in the exhaust and engine that doesn't fully evaporate. It's bad for the engine and causes premature rust in the exhaust.

I used to do the battery thing but now I just disconnect the battery. Come spring connect it back and it starts like a champ.

Perhaps the kind of person who can't afford to replace it too often and wants a mint looking car ;)

I daily drive an 11 year old BMW 330i and my '05 GT stays tucked up in the garage and only comes out on nice weekends. She still looks like a year old car :)

As for the flat spots.........cheapest method is to over-inflate the tires....or, if you have space, roll the car forward/back six inches every now and again.

I put mine in the garage with a cover on her. Usually I change the oil also, but since she only has about 1000 miles I will skip that this year. I will driver her on nicer days. Also I will start it every nw and then, as a mechanic I feel it is better than not starting it like someone else said.

I use a Ctek battery charger, car cover, over inflate tires 33-35 psi and I use old rubber car mats under all four tires. I also spread dryer sheets in the interior, trunk and motor. Lastly, I put an old balled up rag in tailpipes with a ziploc bag secured by rubberbands covering the exhaust tips. Make sure to fill up gas tank.

Some of us live in very cold areas where max performance SUMMER tires just do not work... And we have winter beaters to drive. I have place at 6000' altitude that I have to climb steep and winding roads to get to... The Mustangs just don't do winter there. :)

I drove my 2008 winter and summer here in Ohio as my work car and put 160,000 miles on it. I picked my S550 up last week as it started to snow, and have 500 miles on it already. My 2008 Mustang rewarded me with 160,000 trouble free miles which I enjoyed every day. Everyone treats these things like they are collector cars. Guys, they make more every day. Enjoy your cars for what they were designed to do and drive them!
