For me having a manual means I’m driving the car. I make the decisions not a computer. I can run a gear out longer and harder. To me there is no such thing as a sports car with an automatic. However I’m old school, today’s technology is much better then when I started driving. The question you need to ask yourself is how and where are you planning on driving. Good luck

Ive only own manual cars. I think every sports car should only come manual. Hate the way a car sounds with a exhaust when its automatic. Never had a thought to get a car with a automatic. Everytime someone ask me what i drive and i tell them a mustang. The majority of the times the second question is it stick.

I think manual cars just have more to offer to the driving experience.

The problem isn't the type of transmission offered, it's the lack of choice. If autos were dying or getting pushed out, I'd be equally upset about it. I love my manuals and enjoy driving mine daily but I also want the next guy to get the same enjoyment out of their drive no matter their car or transmission choice. I think all cars should have all the transmission options. Give me a 90 HP thing with a DCT if I want it, of course it'll cost more but I want it lol.

True.
But on the other hand, if CVTs were dying or getting pushed out, I wouldn't shed a tear. :)

Don't know what the fiesta had but the focus had 160 hp out of a N/A 2.0 with 12:1 compression and direct injection. If you drove them like a manual they were fine, but too many owners tried to drive them like they had a traditional slush box and the system could not compensate like that. Between the wife and both daughters, we had four of them since 2012. My 23 yo still has her 2016 titanium. Once we learned how to drive it back in 2012 with our first one, we never had any trouble with the trans on any of them.

It's bad enough that those things are starting to crowd the conventional planetary-geared automatics out, at least in what's left of the family sedan market.

Hope has nothing to do with it. You buy a 90's civic now and wrap it in cellophane and when the kids are 16 you have a big ceremony as you unwrap the time capsule.
That's true. That or a SN95

I've never had an automatic car. I've driven what would be considered good automatics and I still prefer a manual. I like the control a clutch gives at low speed, and that a manual gearbox gives at higher speeds.
