Every time I get near the grill on my car I smell a strong oily-gassy funk. Very similar to the hooge that comes out of my catch can. There are NO leaks anywhere...anybody else stink?

No smell but no catch can here. Have you had an oil change recently? There could have been some oil spilled under the engine cover around the oil fill hole that is heating up.

I get that smell too, the in line of my catch can also has an oily film on it. No idea what's causing it. No oily film anywhere else, just on the in hose.

I think it's definitely related to the catch can(same noxious smell). I'll triple check all the connections, was just curious if others have similar issues.

For what it's worth I noticed it on my car the day after I installed my catch can. Definitely related. No I'm not removing the catch can. I'll live with it.

I've been noticing that smell too lately. I just checked, and sure enough, there was about a half inch of smelly guck in my Mishimoto can.

Part of my problem may be that I put a drain valve and line on my can. It doesn't leak, but the foot and a half of 1/4" plastic tubing always has residue in it.

Mishimoto can. Same here with the smell. Checked all my fittings and found nothing loose so I don't really consider it much of an issue.

Mishimoto catch can and smell

I noticed the same smell after I installed the Mishimoto, even though the car only had 3,900 miles at time of install and I wasn't getting anything significant inside the can for the first 1,000 miles. I got paranoid and double checked the connections and everything was leak free. I also double checked to make sure I hadn't installed the hoses in a fashion that their flow was getting pinched off, especially the hose going under the intake up front. Found no crimping of the hoses. The smell seems to have subsided recently even though the can is catching a lot more gunk now than it did initially. I've been told the catch amount normally increases as the rings get worn in and I'm assuming that's my case. The can's now been on about 3,000 miles and seems to be working as it should.

Guessing you guys are all on the stock PCV system just with a catch can? It could be the smoking issue (Blue Smoke Thread) and you are smelling a bit of burnt oil passing through the exhaust.
