Anyone else notice difference in shifting based on mode.

Background. I've always driven a stick.

Never had any issue being smooth between shifts.
Until this car in normal mode. The throttle is unnaturally sluggish and its near impossible to anticipate it going between gears. Makes for a les than smooth experience.

Put it in sport mode and all that goes away.
Smooth as any other car I've ever driven.
In sport mode it has a more natural throttle feel.

Curious if anyone else has a similar opinion on this.

Nope, doesn't make any difference what mode I am in, I can shift smoothly.

Think of Drive as Economy Mode and Sport as Sport Mode. Economy Mode will try to shift as often as it can to give you the best possible mileage and doesn't care about performance. Sport Mode will try to keep the engine as close to the powerband as possible.

Sorry I should have stated manual transmission. Autos have a mind of their own and do whatever they're programmed to do, so yeah, it's not something you can make better or worse yourself, unless you're doing the programming.

It's the throttle. In sport mode, it's sped up (more throttle angle per % input). You're just more used to something closer to that output. Practice. That'll solve your smoothness problem.

That's a benefit of my base eco, I only have one mode to deal with and I pretty much have that mastered. I can imagine subtle differences in driving modes might be enough to throw you off your game.

While I agree I'm not getting much practice in normal mode. It just feels so much better in sport.

I have an automatic... Anyone know which one is best when racing on the drag strip? Normal, Sport, or Track mode? I feel like Sport mode is best, but unsure.
