This new Mustang has my attention, the best body style I think I've ever seen. I don't want to spend $90,000+ on some of these top shelf GT350R's, but want a car that will keep up or beat my M3, (which isn't supercharged) and other fast cars where I live. I don't track my cars. So I'm looking for opinions from guys who know these (sixth generation) cars on what you think would be the best bang for the buck. Only interested in the 5.0 L "Coyote" V8 or 5.2 L "Voodoo" V8 car. Shelby, Roush, GT, etc. Should I get a stage 3 car straight from the factory or mod it myself? Let me have it and thanks!

You may want to make your decision after photos and specifications/upgrades for the 2018 refresh are released.
Where do you live in Alpharetta?

This.

Or wait until 2018 to get a better deal on a 2015-2017.

If you won't take it to a race track don't get the GT350. It's made for that.

If not in a hurry, wait a few months to see what the 2018 will have. Otherwise, get a 16/17 GT Premium PP and some choice mods.

Going down the heavy modding route is not for everyone.

I'd wait and see what Ford offers for 2018. Having said that you might be able to get a decent deal on one right now.

The Voodoo engine is mostly holding up. If I had to do it again I might have opted for a non-R Track Pack.

I wouldn't purchase a GT350 with the piston and oil ring issues they're beginning to have. Couple that with the fact they like to go into limp mode. Yea.. you'll be better off with modifying a GT with some great suspension components from Steeda or BMR. Throw Ground Control coil overs on it to match and it'll fly with a little bit of boost to follow.

That's a null point. He doesn't want to supercharge anyways

OP I'd get the 350 if you want to compete with the m3
A GT with a Supercharger will more than compete with the M3. Especially on cost of ownership and engine sound. I think the M's sound terrible. :headbang:

A GT350 is a track monster. If it has the Track Pack it will perform on a level very few cars can compete in. The M3 is not one of them. A Performance Pack GT already matches the M3 on a track, and a good set of tires will put the GT out of the M3's reach. Some suspension work and a tune and the M3 has no hope. If you can get a GT350 with a Track Pack I would be all over that, but you can certainly make a GT a beast.

A Roush RS3 will beat the snot out of pretty much anything you see on the street. I think it would be cheaper to buy a PP equipped GT and install the Roush TVS SC kit on it though. You'd probably need to mod the suspension and install new half-shafts too.

I'm with a lot of people here who think you should get a GTPP w/ supporting mods. If you can/want to wait, seeing what the 2018s have to offer might be interesting and worth while.

You will have great options if you decide to go F/I or if you want to go a little more tame a GT350 Intake Manifold along with a few other things will get you some more fun out of the car.

I keep finding new things to add to my list :D

Thats what I did, picked up a lesser equipped model and threw some money
at it. Im pretty happy w the car now and its plenty fast

GT350 is not a proper street car as its rpm curve is way too high
for street duties IMO

That's really not true. Have you driven one?
