As the tittle says. Anyone who’s been in the car game for a while has a 1 or 2 cars they wished they should have kept. I have 3
‘86 5.0 LX Mustang notch
‘02 C5
‘04 Mustang GT

The 86 notch because they had this really good retro look, and you see so many out there with either an LS or a Coyote swap it’s just painful to me thinking about it.

My 02 C5 was my baby. A consistent 10.8 car but was married at the time with kids and the ex wife wouldn’t stop nagging about it so finally got rid of the Vett and 2 years after that she went out the door too.

My 04 4.6 M6 was a fun car and I’ve seen so many folks pushing nasty hp out of those 4.6 engines and to the fact that they sounded great I should have kept it.

Oh well what’s a life with out regret. 😂

Good thread idea! 👍🏻

For me it’s

‘91 5.0 LX Hatch
‘97 Cobra

Looking back I understand why I got rid of them at the time, but for sure wish I hadn’t!

I bought a 1970 Torino Cobra, 429SCJ with ram air, top loader 4 speed.. around 1980....The car was a basket case. The owner had it stripped down and primed. Everything was out of interior, engine was disassembled,....just a rolling shell with boxes of unlabeled parts. It took 9 months of solid work and $$$ to get back on the road. I drove it until 1990 and had to sell. We were moving and didn't have a place to keep it. Kicking myself ever since.

My first car, ‘63 Impala convertible. 283 with a powerglide.

Got t-boned by someone pulling an illegal u-turn. Every body panel except one was banged up. Still drivable, but didn’t have the money to do any bodywork. Junked it a few weeks later when I left for college.

Had to go to 3 junk yards before anyone would take it. All of them had piles of 283’s and powerglides and were only interested in body parts. I think I got $35 for it.

I don't regret getting rid of any of the cars I sold. But I do regret totaling my 1986 Trans Am. After years of owning other cars I realize how special it was. It was only a drivetrain swap away from perfection in my opinion. Now people pay too much for them.

Was it the TPI auto or HO manual?

1956 Porsche 356 Speedster. I got it in '76. It started red, but I had it stripped, shaved the side mouldings, and painted it in black urethane. It was a blast, but when I moved from SoCal to northern Nevada I didn't think it the weather would suit it (no windows, just side curtains), so I sold it. If only I had known how much it would be worth these days...

Had a 95 Mazda RX-7 that I had to get rid of due to being in a bad spot in life. Wanted to really fix it up but life had other plans for it. Only had 54k miles when sold.

Tt was a 305/Auto. It was slow for sure. But it handled amazing! I also miss all the glass with the T-tops. Visibility was outstanding for a performance car and it didnt feel like a dark cave like most modern muscle cars. I appreciated the hatch, I use to fit 2 mountain bikes in the under the hatch (with the front wheels removed) This picture is from when I painted the door and was installing new t-top gaskets, which was a tedious job. They didnt leak when I was done, so that was great. I was not pretty, I got it for $2,500 in 2007 and drove it to college.
