^Yeah and eventually word/news would spread anyway plus year after year this type of announcement isn't top secret... if anything transparency is important from the getgo so that shoppers/buyers know what they're really facing.

And limiting the entire GT350 production let alone the R ensures desirability + lower production numbers now... and I bet, unfortunately, for the R models continuing markups....
Agreed. This document will initially reinforce what was a softening R market. Initially a prop back up to bigger ADM's. Long term, the market will be dependent on continued production or even the next halo car.

Time will tell.

Glad I got mine while I could. My dealer has given me first right refusal on an 18 MY R. But have not secured an allocation. According to this document "IF" they get it, will probably only get one. They ordered my track pack in June 15 and sold for MSRP. They assured me if they get more than one I can buy at MSRP but if they only get one!?! 20K ADM firm. LOL. Will have to wait and see.

So you have Johns old 16R which was purpose built for the track and you are looking for an 18R too?

Let me guess, one for the track, and one for the garage with occasional use...... Hmm, sounds familiar.

Funny thing is, the GT500 info and specs/viewing was released to some of the high end dealers today (in person) and the GT500, in the words of my contact, is going to "exceed expectations even in the shadow of the current GT350R".

So I guess we'll see? But whatever is going on, there sure is excitement. ADM's are still here, but for how long is really the question.

I have a good feeling it will embarrass the R, but that doesn't take away from the R, its a great car and I don't think a FI car will give the same experience.

The GT500 will be a street/strip/track terror that most cars ever built will fear, I have a good feeling about it. My dealer has me first in line for one, at MSRP, question is, will there be a KR model...if so, I'll be searching high and low for the best deal on it. I'd like to wait and see the mid engine vette, but thats still 2 years out. I may get the GT500 first and then see how I like it and if not what I was hoping for, trade it for the ME.

^^^^^ I was wondering when that would finally be leaked. I promised to keep that to myself, no now I guess we can all talk about it.

MY18 job 1 in October. I suspect early allocation orders will probably get built and shipped asap. That is what I was emphasising about grabbing an allocation asap. The allocation that I put forward was first in line. I suspect that will be built in the first round depending on picks from the rep of course. I had asked about another allocation at the same price for another member. The next day, my salesman got hold of me and said someone walked in and put 10k down on a 20k adm deal. I was told there would be no more 7k deals. I suspect that this doucument may have had something to do with it. Short model year could be a product of the end of the 350 or maybe an extra long MY17 production. I think maybe someone had the perception of the music stopping and wanted to have a seat with a refundable deposit. I tried to place a wager with my salesman that the deal will never happen in a year when the car is delivered. He wouldn't take that bet.

Anyway, all just speculation.
The regional manager, who got the allocation for me, stated that there would be no '18 R's built during the '17 calendar year. Which if they start in February they could build 4-500 through June.

I have the same feeling here... and also in regards to the GT350/R being also special & unique on its own. If the next GT500 is truly forced induction (turbo or supercharged), then my initial reaction is no thanks for me. I can whip out the ACR-E or .2 GT3 as a consolation price. All motor is a big plus in my book... and no, I do not dislike or abhor forced induction at all. Plus I'll be shooting for the next .2 GT3RS anyway if I get the chance. :ninja: :D

I'm going with the document that Bossing kindly posted which indicates Job 1 for the 2018 R's is espected to start on October 2nd with production probably lasting for ~6 weeks (mid November) and shuts down until March 2018.

Also based on Bossing's posted document I reached out to my dealer this morning and they forwarded me a copy of a VOC for my upcoming R model.

;)

Well I've made 2 deals so far with dealers that found out they don't have R allocations when it came time to sign the paperwork.

So to anyone shopping around, get documented evidence from Ford that they have the allocation. The one that I saw that could confirm allocations (they didn't want to deal) Had the allocations listed below the above GT350 internal document shown above.

This is certainly an interesting time to be trying to buy an R.. so much can happen between now and when the GT500 specs and pics are released, and also the new Bullitt which is supposed to be HOT. We can talk #'s all day long, but this is technically the 4th model year and newer, fresher cars will be taking the interest of the speculators and mustang fans alike. I think it's a crap shoot on how the R market will be next year, quite frankly. When people were buying the GT350 a year ago for $10K over, who would have thought you'd be able to get one in the first quarter of 2017 for under MSRP? Not me.

And I'm not convinced this statement from ford is written in stone as far as R production #'s, after all they said they were only doing about 500 for 2017 and we all know how that changed late in the model year.

Tom, long story short.

Within the last year I have decided to slow down/retire and spend more time with my children therefore I have recently sold 2 Laguna Seca Boss 302's (PP0001 and LS076) along with one of my R models (GR107) which I sold at a weak moment.

Being a Ford enthusiast for ~50 years I will not sell all of my Mustangs but will sell either "HR019" or my upcoming 2018 R model "JR00X" all depending on which one I like more as I want to get down to one R model.

PP0002 and F0077 are not for sale and will keep one of my last R models as they are very cool cars to say the least.

I am with Bossing with respect to FI Mustangs.

Back in 2008 and 2009 I had a few GT500 Mustangs and although I enjoyed these cars at the time once I experienced the NA 2012 Boss 302 Mustangs that came out in 2011 I immediately sold my GT500's and got totally involved with the 2012 Boss 302 cars.

Each to their own but personally I do not enjoy FI performance cars!

I don't think you'll find anywhere that Ford committed to a particular production volume except for the 2015s. I certainly don't remember then saying only 500 for 2017.
