I don't think you'll find anywhere that Ford committed to a particular production volume except for the 2015s. I certainly don't remember then saying only 500 for 2017.
Let me switch that from "said" to "the general understanding was" 500 or so. with 526 in 2016, I don't know anyone who expected the production run to be increased like it was. And ford really isn't saying a specific number for 2018, we're all guessing. Point was, Ford can do whatever they want, including making less or more than we think they will.

I think even that's a stretch. They never even said they were going to make 526 for 2016 - that came out well after production was completed.

Like you said, though - they can do what they want. They purposely don't lock themselves into a number, in most cases.

526 "R" cars made in 2016. 526 HP in 2016. Coincidence? Not that the 2017"s production totals will equal HP though. Engines are the same.

Can you hear the dealers now? 2018, Last year of production, limited availability, get it now, only $$$ ADM.

I have a good feeling it will embarrass the R, but that doesn't take away from the R, its a great car and I don't think a FI car will give the same experience.

The GT500 will be a street/strip/track terror that most cars ever built will fear, I have a good feeling about it. My dealer has me first in line for one, at MSRP, question is, will there be a KR model...if so, I'll be searching high and low for the best deal on it. I'd like to wait and see the mid engine vette, but thats still 2 years out. I may get the GT500 first and then see how I like it and if not what I was hoping for, trade it for the ME.
I'm working on that one too Jim. If a screaming deal came my way, one of the 2 R's would have to go. As soon as all the info is presented to my dealer, I should know one way or the other. More to follow.

You forgot to add the requisite "dealer fee".... :paddle: :D
Don't even get me started. Its the hidden ADM that they don't tell you about unless you catch it on the pre-purchase worksheet. If you don't catch it, they wont tell you about it.

Those fees vary. The TY R purchase I believe was $600. Everyone charges it and few will waive it. Unfortunately it is the cost of doing business.

so... anybody got a lead on a '18 350R allocation @MSRP? Ive just got this stupid idea..... :headbonk:
I know you're being sarcastic, but I'm convinced this is never going to happen in 2018 unless it's a very special relationship or special dealer.. I know some have the magic connection, but that is extremely rare. Hell, I know a owner of a Ford dealership that has allocations and he wont' even give me a deal lol. Great guy, just not willing to lose money.

Why do I say this? I had several people reach out to me with leads on dealers that do MSRP deals.. most of them are smaller dealers, and the smaller dealers are getting cut on allocations (big volume dealers are getting rewarded with more while the little guy is getting hosed). The ones I reached out to mostly said that for 2018 there would be an ADM because of numbers. In one case, the dealership told me the owner was more educated on the R and wouldn't sell that low again, but would sell for a price that was better than most (I found one out-of-state with an available allocation, but they wanted $4K over and by the time I figured in shipping and everything else it was a no-go).

So yep, my search is over (thank God) but I anticipate ADM's are going to be HUGE for 2018.

Lol. You can bet I verified this in every way after what I've been through, including the print out from Ford Performance showing the allocation, order # sheet printout, etc. :D

I slept better last night knowing this is done.

Ford Performance cannot and will not verify an allocation. Ask me how I know. Call them with your order number and dealer code. Then ask them to verify whether this R order has been allocated by ford. They will tell you to reach out to your dealer and your rep. But wait.... your dealer is the one who took the order and your deposit. To add insult to injury, they don't feel it necessary to confirm anything because they just took your order.

You need to get something in writing from the rep. I always advise making that part of the initial deal because it is awkward and difficult after the fact.

Eric, a lot of this is rhetorical for people to read and learn from, so again for anyone else in a similar situation, a dealer can take an order and a deposit. Unless the order is allocated, the car will never get built.
