I get what you're saying, but you know what the beauty of it is? I am extremely happy with my GT350 as it sits and am having a ton of fun with it. Having the patience and being happy with what you got makes looking for an R so much easier.Having been thru this since the car was initially announced, it will be the most frustrating car buying experience in your life. Eventually I bought an "R" locally and paid through the nose. But I got to order it the way I wanted and no 1,000 mile drive home. That's worth something to me. No, one won't fall into your lap. And don't believe everything a dealer tells you.
With all due respect just because you had a frustrating experience purchasing an R model or a GT350 for that matter doesn't mean that everyone else will.Having been thru this since the car was initially announced, it will be the most frustrating car buying experience in your life. Good luck to the dealers asking $20K over in the last year of production. :cheers:Been following this and similar threads abt MY18, esp Rs and expected pricing (which seems to be softening somewhat on Rs, as inventory builds). My dealer called me last week to advise they will get 1 MY18R. Since I bought their only R allocations for MY16 and MY17 (they only got 1 each year), they kindly offered me first shot. Thought about it and decided to pass. I asked what they want for ADM and was told $20K :eyebulge: (because of high demand for a last year model). Well, that might not sound too surprising, given historical ADMs for Rs as reported here. However, this dealer has had a firm +$5K ADM for prior years. Am really surprised, but I suppose I shouldn't be. Good luck to all those still searching.
Depending on numerous variables such as a very short production window for next Spring along with possibly very low R model production numbers for the final year of production dealerships will play this one to the max especially if Ford officially announces that the 2018MY will be the last year for the R model therefore there is no question that many/most dealerships will play the ADM game to the max.Good luck to the dealers asking $20K over in the last year of production.
I still think it'll be a sub 500 build.. perhaps 437 for an even 2k units produced? Pure speculation but it's interesting to try and guess what they will do. Still far less R's than the 05/06 GT, and overall far fewer 350's than the GT500.Depending on numerous variables such as a very short production window for next Spring along with possibly very low R model production numbers for the final year of production dealerships will play this one to the max especially if Ford officially announces that the 2018MY will be the last year for the R model therefore there is no question that many/most dealerships will play the ADM game to the max.
Obviously still some questions to be answered for the 2018MY so will be interesting where this all ends up!

edit: make that 438.. as I feel they will only build 999 as the dash plaque is setup for 3 digits.I guess we will find out in a couple of months. Mine will be in the last groups to be built so we will have a good idea where the chassis numbers will end up.
Just wondering when R allocations will be assigned, does anyone know? I have been in contact with several dealers, most recently yesterday, and dealers still don't know when they will know how many, if at all, R's they will have.
Also, I know this forum is tight and people guarded, but I am a bonafide long term Ford and Mustang owner/enthusiast, and looking to get an R and would love to order one at a good price... if anyone is willing to help me on this, privately PM me. No speculator/flipper here, you can guarantee that. Either way I'll find something, but why not see if anyone wants to help on this wonderful forum?
Nope.R price pumping never gets old around here... lol
At this point I honestly don't think ford gives a damn about R rareness or total numbers built. The rest of the company is not doing well so they will milk as many R's as they can. Will try to max out at 999 or perhaps even add a digit.I still think it'll be a sub 500 build.. perhaps 437 for an even 2k units produced? I vividly remember back in late 2006 when the 2007 GT500's came out and I was going to purchase one along with many of my buddies as I was told by many Ford reps that the first year 2007 GT500 was going to be a "Limited Edition" run but could never anyone from Ford to confirm what "Limited Edition" production numbers would entail. At this point I honestly don't think ford gives a damn about R rareness or total numbers built. They have to. Suppliers can't just pop out infinite amounts of components on a weeks notice. If that were the case anyone who submitted and order would have an R. That didn't change for '18.At this point I honestly don't think ford gives a damn about R rareness or total numbers built. Of course within reason, but they have clearly exceeded 500 this year (over 700) and will likely keep going into September so obviously there is more capacity. If they can do 900+ this year, there is no reason to think they cant repeat that again. They have to. Suppliers can't just pop out infinite amounts of components on a weeks notice. None of us knows the intentions of Ford with respect to 2018MY R model production volumes but I would suggest that production volumes for the 2017MY for R models will be an anomaly with production starting on June 1st, 2016 and probably will last until the end of September 2017 which is 16 months of production thus some big production numbers for the 2017MY.Of course within reason, but they have clearly exceeded 500 this year (over 700) and will likely keep going into September so obviously there is more capacity.
