Dealer originally told me don't worry about color can confirm later.Said Ford contact them when build is allocated and ask if all details of order are correct, color stripes etc.
Later found out through the forums this is all bullshit.Sometimes they just build em without any confirmation or even giving customers build dates .Next thing you know its on a ship.
I was considering the blues, could of flipt to deep impact .It looked fantastic in life, but then didn't cause wanted a sync3 my17.Trolled the net looking at lightning blue too, which also looked great.but was too scared to go a color i hadn't seen.
Very curious to the lightnings when they arrive.

Just had the dealer call me, ordered end of Feb 2016 and just got NSC No. estimated delivery 18/12/16 (lets see how close this is but hoping for a great Christmas present but wont hold my breath) was originally quoted 3/17 so the extra 2,000 allocation may be reducing the wait time.

I'm quite envious. My Jan 7 2016 order still has no estimated build date. Ford AU say "get back to us in Q4 of this year". Great, so in December I might have an idea of when my car will be built... pretty much killed my hope of getting delivery this year and even January is looking like a "best case" scenario.

I am guessing that you will hear shortly about a build date as i only just got my NSC, since you ordered 2 months before me you should be going into production in the next month or so, i have found that they are very conservative to manage expectation so as not to disappoint.

That looks to be based on your date of order - Feb 16 - and estimated delivery - Dec 17 - is 2 months shy of two years? Which (for example) would mean that my GT (placed on 21 May 16) is due for delivery sometime in March 2018? (or am I missing something here...).

If this were the case I don't think the 2K allocation is reducing any wait time. I would also call into question the ability to actually get the car as ordered given that the next model mustang is due in 2017 (mid year?) and I don't think Ford would keep a discontinued model production line open/running. But again I may be missing something here (I sincerely hope so!). :)

I placed my order on the 18th Feb 2016, got my NSC on the 7th July 2016 and can expect delivery about November or December. Had originally ordered Deep Impact Blue but had to change to Lightning Blue because of the discontinuation of the DIB. If you want to see what the Lightning Blue looks like take a search on Youtube by putting in 2017 Mustang. As they are now on the showroom floors in America there are lots of videos - some good and others not so good.

One of the best pictures of the Lightning Blue can be seen on this "youtube video".

This is exactly what I said at the start of this thread. Please don't get your hopes up and expect anything less than a 15month order. Now you are disappointed because you had hopes of delivery this year, which was an unrealistic expectation. Mine is right on normal schedule which was ordered in August 15 and is now scheduled to start build next Friday.

I hope everyone doesn't get too excited about an early delivery. Yes it can happen but don't ever expect it and if it does happen you will be then be pleasantly surprised!

Good luck on the wait mate, I know it's tough, just hang in there!

I think you should of been able to still get deep impact. Was considering changing magnetic to it mid may, rang my dealer who said he'd check. He rang me back 3 days later and said yes can have it and had about i week to decide.Stupidly i didn't because wanted a MY17. Then looking at lightning and white platinum pics.Eventually picked oxford white. When i ordered told dealer i wasn't decided on color ,thinking oxford white, ingot silver or magnetic. He decided to put magnetic on contract.
Good going if you get it this year a mate ordered his magnetic jan 20 hes been told an nsc code, with expected dec build and spewing.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but don't expect build date to be any sooner than 11 months. Then 90 days for delivery and hand in keys. Unless you are offered any cancelled orders.
