I just purchased one of those oil funnel kits for my Shelby from Jon. So I drained the 10 quarts from my car in one drain pan, Drained the oil from my wife's Edge, then poured the Edges oil into the Shelby, and the 10 quarts from the Shelby into the Edge.
That is an oil change ? Right ? šŸ¤”
Love it… I’m never buying oil again… you really should patent this idea!!! Nice one šŸ˜‚

I do oil change 7k or every 2 years on all my vehicles. Gt350 last oil change was in November 2021.

It was pretty obvious, lol
Figured I'd throw my 2 cents in there in case someone else read it that thought it was 10000% serious :) Safety first!!!

By the way...STRIPES!!!! One of the greats!!!! You can see in one of the scenes my Aunts pickup truck when she was stationed there while the movie was being filmed!

These cars should never go over 5000 miles for a routine oil change.
Taking everything with a grain of salt in this thread...LOL...What is this statement based on? Why shouldn’t it ever go over? When you’ve had three (now me) in this thread alone with an actual lab result stating much much longer, what is your basis? Let me guess, ā€œcheap insuranceā€?

Well, my experience is that the ritual of performing an oil change on a GT350 couldn't possibly be described as "routine". On that basis, I'd say we all agree...

No, no, no... That would be an oil ex-change. Oil changes are when you switch brands every time, using the cheapest stuff you can find. I have discovered that at yard sales the tin topped cardboard quarts are super economical.
Now hold on - he clearly said that it was his wife's Edge, and mentioned nothing about her being his ex. Jeeez!

And may I add that 7.3 diesel deathtrap has about 750,000 miles on it, so I would say Jim's oil recommendations are sound advice.

Jim, one of these days that beater, with about 20 degrees of play in the steering wheel, will finally let go. I hope you aren't far away from home when that happens. If it does by me, you can crash at my place. And no, you can't borrow any of the 350s or 500, lol
Wow! Why invite him to crash at your place? When that steering lets go, I would want to be as far away from the crash as possible!

As mentioned prior, this process is 100% up to you to stay on top of, don't rely on anyone else. Priority #1, check the dip stick regularly & often and make sure the oil is topped off. Next, does the oil appear clear, semi-clear, darker or straight up black? If its clear or semi-clear, you're good. If it's darker or black, change the oil and filter right away. That's pretty much it.

No, not at all. It's your car do what you want. But did you ever look at the old oil ? After 5000 miles its black and mixed with dirt and raw fuel. That crap is constantly running through the bearings. When you take the cost of the car 40-50 thousand dollars and compare it to the cost of the oil. Well, it's just COMMON SENSE to change the oil sooner rather than later.

Soooo, ā€œcommon senseā€ over science? So you’re saying your visual observation is more precise than an actual lab report? Got it. So how did you settle on 5K? With your logic, wouldn’t 3K mikes be even better. Or every 1K miles? My lab reports say you are 100% wrong in stating that black dirty oil is full of dirt and fuel.

Ever owned a diesel? That oil is black after the first 10 miles. Anything wrong with the oil? Nope!

You missed the point entirely. I never said visual observation was more precise than a lab report. What I said was changing your oil sooner than later makes more sense.

Nope. I did not miss the point that’s what you said. In fact, I quite took your statement to mean just that; that you can tell how much dirt and fuel are in the oil from visual observation. Because that’s exactly what you said. Nor did we miss the point your visual observation is more exact. And again, lab report after lab report says otherwise, but you still state changing sooner rather than later makes more sense…but you don’t back it up with anything. When in fact it doesn’t make sense. Nor did you answer how you arrived at changing at 5K. Using your words, why don’t you change oil at 3K? Or 1K? That’s IF sooner makes more sense!?
